I once lent my cousin money because she said it was an emergency.
And to be fair, it sounded serious.
She called me crying that she was stranded and needed help urgently.
Said she'd pay me back as soon as her salary dropped.
I didn't even think twice.I transferred the money immediately.
The next day she posted brunch.
The kind with fancy drinks, pancakes and a caption about "healing and self-care."
I was confused but gave her the benefit of the doubt.
Maybe someone else paid.
Maybe it was old pictures.
Then a week later she posted herself at a concert.
Front row.
Singing lyrics with her whole chest.
Meanwhile every time I asked about my money, she'd reply
"Cuz, things are really tight right now."
