Just got word the bread right now is scarce everywhere, and expensive to buy!

So i went ahead and built a mill, which turns the wheat from my farms into flour. Now when i build the bakery, to turn the flour into bread, my npc's can capitalize off the scarcity and make me more $EMERGE in the market!

Emerge v1.1 is live! and it starts with an bonus gold!

Players said the game was eating the Gold they deposited. It was. Here's what was actually happening 🧵

- Your market read every good against its own shelf.

Bread's shelf holds 40. A town with a mill but no bakery bakes none. So it bought bread, every single day, while sitting on a 14-a-day wheat surplus.

Food is interchangeable at the table. The market didn't know that.

- Measured across 8 settlements: that one line was ~60 Gold a day out of 86 in imports, against 88 of total income.

Treasuries sat between 4 and 274 Gold for 24 days straight. Anything you deposited was gone within days.

- Fixed:
• no importing food you already have, in any form
• the market keeps 2 days of wages back instead of spending to zero
• Gold piling up in citizens' purses now circulates (they were paid 48/day, returned 7)
A settlement left alone: 219 Gold on day 15 → 697 on day 120. It used to be pinned at nothing.
- Everyone gets 1,500 Gold, once per settlement, for what the bug cost you. It's already there when you log in.
- Also in v1.1:

💰 Set your own wages. Pay less and people do less and lose heart. Pay more and you get a happier, growing town out of your treasury. Neither end is free; the curve was set by running 8 settlements for 150 days at each setting.

Your settlement trades with other settlements. Everything is interconnected.

What your neighbor needs, you may have, and vice versa. The more players build in the game, the more demand there will be for resources in the game, and the more your NPC's will work.

Then, the more $EMERGE you earn!
