You don't have to accept statements like this.
An example: My wife loves fireflies but we noticed there weren't as many around anymore. So I did a little research, found out how to attract more to our yard, and now a few years later our yard is packed full of them.
You can affect the world for more than you realize
in most of america you experience a title run through a television in a living room you drove to. in new york the game was projected on the sides of buildings and strangers hugged on the sidewalk at midnight. density is just the precondition for collective joy
it’s called “life.” You walk to the store. Maybe you see someone you know on the way. You find a dollar on the ground. The sun shines on your face. You are participating in the world.
Deep inner suffering inevitably arises when the human person is reduced to performance, consumption, or a statistical datum. Many young people today live under the yoke of expectations to perform, immersed in an exasperated competitiveness that generates anxiety, fear of not measuring up, and disorientation.
the responses/quotes to this post has taught me that we as a collective need to be more thankful for glee, one tree hill, gossip girl, riverdale, and gilmore girls for their cultural contribution
“The AI is not just telling you what you want to hear. It is training you, one conversation at a time, to need less friction, expect more agreement, and become slightly less capable of handling a situation where someone pushes back on you…”
No one believes me when I say this, but the decline in reading is already having dire consequences for art & culture. The media you loved in your youth—shows, albums, films—was made by artists who were widely read. You will not have that quality of art in a post-literate world.
nothing. they have nothing. executives decided that demographic is useless for making money when the pivot to streaming happened, and so they stopped making those shows. Leaving youtubers, grifters, and AI slop to fill the void. Owl House, Amphibia, etc. are the last of its kind.
Ex-Blockbuster employee here. And I mean it with 100% sincerity that the world would be a better place if we shut down all streaming services, re-opened Blockbusters and video stores worldwide, and shoved people back out into the world to find and enjoy their entertainment.

“I don’t have to hold a legacy. I don’t mind if I do or if I don’t, as long as I still show an impact to at least any of these guests."
Generative AI should be nowhere near children's media. These people are willing to stunt a child's creative and cognitive development to earn themselves a quick buck.
If you use AI to make anything for kids, I do not believe you truly care about children.
This kinda makes it worse? I don’t really care about what he said btw. But this means it wasn’t a flippant off hand comment. There was thought in the diss. It was a real diss.
he’s one of the most insufferable fake deep pseudo intellectuals out there because what the fuck do you mean you’re always crying about wanting to be one of the greats in your art and your craft but you turn around and disrespect other art disciplines. an absolute loser
Someone once told me that The Hobbit is too difficult a book for a child of twelve to read. The Hobbit, famously a children’s book. Fewer and fewer people are able to read in part because we continue to lower expectations. Kids in the 1940s were reading Defoe & Dickens.
