The #CTBTO’s International Monitoring System (IMS) recorded a seismic event south of Bid Shahr, Fars province, #Iran 🇮🇷, on 3 March 2026 at 06:55 UTC (IDC mb 3.9). The waveforms of this event are consistent with a natural earthquake in a seismically active region. This analysis is based on data from 17 primary seismic and 10 auxiliary seismic stations across the IMS network.

Preparing for the Integrated Field Exercise 2026 (IFE26), Namibia and CTBTO are deepening their cooperation. The CTBTO’s On-Site Inspection (OSI) Director met with Namibia’s Acting Executive Director and senior officials from the Ministry of Industries, Mines and Energy (MIME), Ministry of International Relations and Trade (MIRT), and Ministry of Defense and Veteran Affairs (MODVA). The meeting launched official preparations for IFE26, underscoring Namibia’s steadfast commitment to the #CTBT and its vital role in advancing regional and global nuclear non-proliferation and disarmament. Discussions were constructive, focused, and forward-looking, building a strong foundation for success. A preparatory visit is now underway in Namibia, paving the way for seamless collaboration. 🔊Preparation for #SnT25 has begun with the first meeting of the Scientific Programme Committee (SPC)!

The committee develops scientific goals, themes and highlights for the biennial CTBT: Science and Technology Conference, which will take place in Vienna in September 2025.

In his discussion with the SPC, #CTBTO ES @_RobFloyd said he wanted the conference to be inclusive, inspiring, and impactful. He also thanked CTBTO experts and the 17 committee members from 16 countries for contributing to this important initiative.👏
