"How low can you go? 🐾 Using drones for behavioural studies means ensuring they don't disturb the animals. We investigated the impact of various drone heights on the behavior of hauled-out harbor - and grey seals. 🦭📡 #WildlifeResearch#Drones#Seals

Ever wondered if an acoustic seal scarer would affect an Eurasian otter? Then we just published the paper for you! We investigated the underwater hearing of two #otters to 1 and 14 kHz AHD sounds, and how that affected their foraging #behaviour.

7 days later and the #hybrid#harbourseal#greyseal is alive and well at Denmark's museum of the sea 🦭 Check out the videos -the news are in Danish, but the pictures says it all.
It seems like the #sealpup is nursing and interacting with mama #seal 🥳 🤞 https://t.co/TwmgA3JRof
#Hybrid#sealpup is still going strong at #Denmark 's Museum of the Sea 🦭🥳It is most likely a female and seems to resemble the #harbourseal in appearance but with the #greyseal coloration😃She went for her first swim when she was 3 days old and shred the fur after a week.
First documented #hybrid harbour-grey #sealpup at Denmark's museum of the sea! Though #greyseal DNA has been found in the uterus of female #harbourseals, a hybrid has never been documented - until this morning 😲Fathered by a harbour seal and born by a grey seal 🦭
@natdyerwild Oh he is something alright! The mum is from 2011, making her 12 years old. He was actually chemically neutered in spring 2022, but apparently it did not last for an entire year, just in time for the grey seal's cycle 🦭
@MaureenLycaon We will see. I don't think anybody expected that these species would be able to produce living offspring in the first place. So far, it's alive and well so hopefully the mom will take care and nurse it well enough to increase its chances 🤞🦭
It's finally here - the paper about porpoise growth and seasonal variations + prediction models !🥳 Exciting data over 23 years with continuous measurements of 17 living porpoises. Thank you to all my coauthors for their help & support during this work🙏
