Today @NKBLScotland@YouthLinkScot publish their new report into violence between girls. We are grateful to @EmilyBeever for writing a blog for us on why it is vital to take a whole family approach to this issue. Important reading

"Any direction that Scotland takes in seeking to increase rather than reduce exclusions would be a grave error... Exclusions do not address the consequences of behaviour, it merely displaces it."
Strong response to BISSR from @ThePromiseScot

Solutions must be rights-respecting, non-stigmatising and address the unmet needs of children and young people.
Others will have more to say particularly on exclusions, the links with the justice system & the ambitions of #ThePromise@susanmcvie @Jimmypaul90 @fionathepromise
In the discussion of relationships& behaviour in schools in @ScotParl this afternoon, only @_MWhitfield centred children and young people's perspective.
The BISSR report didn't engage at all with children so although it tells us what, we know nothing more of why.
Children and young people MUST be involved at all levels going forward, including in the development of the National Action Plan, to better understand their challenges and to involve them in the solutions
The best way to end the week - an interview with the amazing Agents for Change @jkmc3 ✨️
They asked about how @YouthLinkScot prioritises children's rights and which rights we could do better on.
Their rights priorities were:
🛡 Protection from violence
💡Education
🪪 Identity
@HLHYouthWork are right - collective punishment is not the solution! Youth workers consistently building positive relationships in communities IS the solution ❤️
@Paul_CiN @EmilyBeever@youthhighland1 We are still here, out in the lashing rain on Friday and Saturday night 52 weeks of the year (as we have been for the last 2 decades) with our Detached provision, our recent Monday Night Football project developed as a result of this work - collective punishment isnt the solution
This is exactly the kind of issue we are trying to tackle using #RestorativeApproaches in Falkirk. Hopefully youth workers at the ready to support young people in Fort William to make positive choices and open back up the space for all YP
@HLHYouthWork@youthhighland1 @Paul_CiN
This is a very vulnerable piece for me.
I wrote on my past work, being "the upskirting girl" and why I won't ever criminalise anything again, for the @guardian

Fab day with @NAYouthServices talking about children's rights and #UNCRC. Loads of great rights-based practice and youth workers motivated to respect, protect and fulfil children's rights
#YouthWorkChangesLives
A woman has today been sentenced to 28 months in prison for ending her own pregnancy in England under a law passed before women even had the vote.
It’s a very dark day for women’s reproductive rights in the U.K.
