Newsletter of Botanical University Challenge has a plant joke in each issue. This month: What is the clumsiest plant? Back in 2023 one team had a name very like this.

Got a better plant joke?
I’ve noticed lots of violets flowering at the moment💜
These are some of the key features that help with differentiating the violets:
• Smell - any smell?
• Sepal shape - blunt or pointed?
• Spur colour - darker or lighter than petals?

In 2024 I set myself a challenge to record all the plant and animal species I saw each month for the year 🌱
Overall in 2024 I made 1374 records with a total of 632 different species. Now I just have to try and beat these numbers in 2025!
