All is set for Zimbabwe’s participation at the 61st Venice Biennale in Venice, Italy, where the country proudly presents its pavilion titled Second Nature.
Zimbabwe is being represented by a dynamic group of artists Gideon Gomo, Eva Raath, Franklyn Dzingai, Felix Shumba, and Pardon Mapondera under the curatorship of Fadzai Veronica Muchemwa.
The exhibition explores compelling themes of identity, environment, and lived experiences, offering a rich reflection on the relationship between people and their surroundings.
The Zimbabwe Pavilion will be officially opened by Mr Nicholas Moyo, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture.
Taking place in Venice, Italy, the Biennale brings together nearly 100 national pavilions and remains one of the most prestigious platforms in contemporary art globally. Zimbabwe’s participation now in its eighth appearance, continues to position the country as a key player in the international cultural landscape.
Through this strategic engagement, Zimbabwe is amplifying its cultural footprint and creating valuable opportunities for local artists to connect with global audiences, curators, and collectors.

HEROIC MUJAJI COMPLETES WALK OF HOPE - HARARE LEG
Elliot Mujaji, the only male Zimbabwean to have ever secured a Paralympic gold medal, has once again made history - this time by walking all the way from Bulawayo to Harare.
Covering an estimated 450km alongside his friends, Elliot undertook this remarkable journey to raise funds for the construction of a sporting facility in Zvishavane, aptly named The Great Dyke Sports Park.
This initiative stands at the intersection of ambition, vision, and legacy-building.
What makes this achievement even more profound is that the walk brought together persons with disabilities and those without - symbolising unity in pursuit of a shared goal. I was honoured to welcome the participants, along with their families, friends, and supporters of the 'Mujaji Vision', and to join them for the final lap of their Harare arrival.
Government remains committed to playing its part in bringing this vision to life. We also call upon private sector players, NGOs, corporates, and individuals to support the realisation of this monumental project.

||Women and Girls Sports Festival in Mashonaland West, Magunje||
Proud to have officiated at the close of the Walk 4 Life Festival in Magunje yesterday, where over 30 teams competed across multiple sport disciplines, while participants also accessed essential health services including screenings and wellness support.
Zimbabwe’s unwavering support for the girl child in sport continues to be a cornerstone of fostering gender equality and empowering young women. Through dedicated programs and initiatives, the country is championing opportunities for girls to excel, break barriers, and showcase their talents on national and international stages.
Grateful for the strong nexus of Government leadership, partners, and the local community in making this initiative impactful and far-reaching. Sport continues to serve as a powerful tool for empowerment, inclusion, and community wellbeing.

I joined football stakeholders this morning as H.E President E.D Mnangagwa launched the Munhumutapa Cup - a significant step toward strengthening and modernising our domestic game. This initiative by ZIFA signals clear intent to build a more competitive, inclusive and commercially viable football structure.
With a five-year investment of US$25 million, the tournament opens participation across all levels - from grassroots and junior ranks to women’s football and the premiership. It creates a structured pathway for talent growth while giving communities across the country a meaningful stake in the sport. Importantly, the men’s champions will go on to represent Zimbabwe in the CAF Confederation Cup, elevating the profile of our local league.
I was especially encouraged to see the trophy crafted locally, reflecting our heritage and creative excellence. Sport must drive opportunity - on the field, in industry, and in national identity - and the Munhumutapa Cup positions football as a true vehicle for development.
