⭐️ “TAKE BACK SPORTS:” Expanding Girls’ Flag Football in Wisconsin ⭐️

To @highlight, USA Football, National Football League (NFL) NFL Players Association, the Green Bay Packers, and ESPN:

My name is Emily Lefco, and I am writing as a lifelong football believer, former NFL Punt, Pass & Kick competitor, fantasy football strategist, and passionate advocate for girls who deserve more than a sideline view of the game.

Football has shaped me since childhood. Every year I won NFL Punt, Pass & Kick, that belief was reinforced: girls belong in football. Not someday. Not symbolically. Not only as fans. On the field. In leadership. In strategy. In media. In every room where the future of the game is being built.

And some things never change: to this day, in a family full of male cousins, I still live on as the all-time QB — same as grade school.

Milwaukee and Southeastern Wisconsin are ready.

Girls’ flag football is not just a nice idea. It is one of the clearest growth opportunities in sports. It builds confidence, teamwork, leadership, discipline, community, and access. It gives young athletes a place to compete, belong, and become.

And yet, too many girls in Wisconsin still lack visible, organized, accessible pathways to play.

That has to change.

Nearly half of the NFL fanbase is made up of women and girls. The demand is already here. The passion is already here. The athletes are already here. What we need now is infrastructure: more leagues, more coaching, more funding, more partnerships, more visibility, and more people willing to say, “Yes, we are building this.”

I am calling on USA Football, NFL FLAG, the NFL, the Green Bay Packers, ESPN, @highlight, local schools, community leaders, sponsors, and anyone who believes in the future of sports to help expand girls’ flag football opportunities across Milwaukee and Southeastern Wisconsin.

Let’s build the pathways.
Let’s fund the future.
Let’s grow the game.
Let’s make Wisconsin a leader in girls’ flag football.

These girls are ready.

Let’s not make them wait another season.

Girls deserve the game.
