Thrilled to see the inaugural William C. Mackey Visiting Professorship in Vascular Surgery come to fruition after many months of planning. Huge thanks to Dr. Hall @TheJhall13 and @TuftsMedicalCtr for the support.
I’m a surgeon because of my father. Over the past 9 months, I’ve learned how many others are surgeons because of his mentorship and guidance.
I love you, I miss you. I hope you know how many lives you changed.
.@TuftsMedicine, @TuftsMedSchool & many guests including Gov. Maura Healey celebrated the launch of the Dr. William C. Mackey Lectureship in Vascular Surgery, honoring Dr. Mackey's legacy as a longtime surgeon-in-chief & leader. Support the lectureship at https://t.co/JLWlD0voLV
We are deeply saddened to share that Dr. Bill Mackey has died at the age of 72. A longtime vascular surgeon, teacher and leader, Dr. Mackey spent his entire career at Tufts Medical Center spanning nearly 40 years. He served as surgeon-in-chief and on our Board of Trustees.
Everyone is tough and resilient until they are not.
Check in with your tribe... Friends, colleagues, mentors, mentees. This week, piled upon all of 2020, is enough to break anyone.
Our chief resident class (missing two in this picture!) is just one example of how our roster of resident surgeons proudly reflects the Worcester patient population that we care for everyday: diverse, resilient, beautiful, and STRONG. Just another reason #whyumassmed 🌎
Fantastic article featuring our Program Director @JenniferLaFemi1 discussing the significant challenges of the residency application process during these unprecedented times- a must read for MS4’s and residency programs alike! #medtwitter @UMassMedical
