CMS argues that because nurses perform the majority of POC (largely waived) testing, they should be able to perform high complexity testing, too. Subpar patient care would result from this. MLS, MT’s, and MLT’s should be the only ones performing high complexity testing.#labvocate
@CMSGov It would be unwise and dangerous for nurses to be allowed to perform high complexity testing. Subpar patient care would result from this. MLS, MT’s, and MLT’s should be the only ones performing high complexity testing.
A Medical Laboratory Scientist passes rigorous, difficult courses & board exams. An MLS has a bachelor’s degree or more. How about we get treated like it? Tired of the disrespect we get from admin and other departments.
@GilbertSwink I’ve made some powerpoints and posts on social media to help educate. Some people have been graceful and receptive, some people not so much, lol
Most days in the lab, I never stop moving. And if I’m sitting, my hands are pipetting, typing, writing, making solutions... There’s never a dull moment. #medlab#busy#tired#MedTwitter
I wish nurses knew more about hemolysis, clotting, IV contamination, correct order of draw, etc. All happen at the time of collection. We are not doing anything to ruin your specimen! -Lab #MLS#medlab#scapegoat#MedTwitter
@jfitzgeraldMD Not surprised at the number of men saying they should have just laughed it off or handed it to the nurse 1.Women deal with this stuff all the time, so it’s tiring. Think how you would feel if you were underestimated all the time. 2.Dont need to be treating nurses that way, either
Congrats to the nurses for a new retention bonus
But lab is overlooked again?
Physically and mentally drained this group can't be overlooked again
They won't be taken advantage of...
This needs to stop.
