‘Complex’ patients are different, not difficult. Change your approach and change your language. It’s not their fault they don’t fit into your pretty little box.
That’s the tweet.
Dissociation can make us feel nothing.
But it doesn’t mean we’re secretly dreadful or don’t care about anyone or anything.
We’re just offline for a while, waiting until it’s safer to reboot.
My mam just told me as a child I was obsessed with Barney live but refused to watch the cartoon version (or any other cartoon) because they ‘weren’t real’ … #actuallyautistic
Just because the voices get louder at night doesn't make what they're saying any more true. They're just trying to ratchet up the drama. Don't bite.
Remember: self-talk; visualization; breathing. Your tools work.
There’s so much I want to say about the past few months. So many people I want to thank, so many I also wonna absolutely not thank…
It’s been wild.
But we’re still here, still fighting.
This is an interesting new article summarising current understanding around 'BPD'. There was one bit that particularly jumped out at me...👇

this week is super chill & with no ‘big’ projects to work on at the moment (& my brains inability to rest), the focus has been switched back to the gym!

We need to always be honest with our experiences. And where mistakes have been made, we need to show the impact (without blame), and what could have been done differently. But it’s also important to highlight the things that work & figure out ways to replicate.
It’s a hard task!
Should experts by experience and patient representatives be required to be hopeful, positive and constructive on the terms of those who hold the reigns on whether to listen to them in decision-making? Sometimes this feels deeply uncomfortable to me.
