I was invited to Kenya by @bharatthakrar (BT) to join his company @WPPScangroup in 2010.
BT and I disagreed on several issues over the years, but he was clear: keep the clients and the business growing, and he would not interfere but help you grow. He kept his promise. My team saw growth, I grew, and I worked the longest stint of my career at WPP Scangroupโ13 long years. I made Kenya my home, made several friends, and built a life in Kenya.
My personal truths as a clinical psychologist:
#291 The more precisely you name your feelings, the better you can manage them.
*Many people struggle because every uncomfortable feeling gets labeled the same way: stress, anger, anxiety, or sadness. But there is a big difference between feeling disappointed, rejected, embarrassed, overwhelmed, lonely, guilty, or afraid. Each feeling points to a different problem and often calls for a different response.
A husband who says heโs angry may actually be feeling hurt. A teenager who seems lazy may actually feel discouraged. An employee who wants to quit may not be burned out at allโhe may feel unappreciated. A person scrolling social media late at night may think theyโre anxious when theyโre really lonely.
The more specific you are about what youโre feeling, the more options you have. When you can name the feeling accurately, youโre much less likely to react blindly to it.
Clarity creates choices. And choices are what make self-control possible.
Our parents are being conditioned to think young people are unruly. So that the message that we need to tame our youth sits better than our youth are fighting for us.

I am sorry, but as an American this makes no sense to me.
I know Kenya has a great health infrastructure and can do this - the question is WHY did they agree to this.
Would be interested to know what kind of pressure or concessions the US government made to convince the Kenyan government
Let me trace the timeline here because nobody's connecting it.
Step 1: Scrape the entire internet. Every book, every article, every conversation, every piece of art, every forum post. Do it without asking. Do it without paying.
Step 2: Train a model on all of it. Call it "artificial intelligence."
Step 3: Go to BlackRock's Infrastructure Summit and announce: "We see a future where intelligence is a utility, like electricity or water, and people buy it from us on a meter."
Step 3 is where you sell people's own knowledge back to them. On a meter.
They took the collective output of human thought, compressed it into a model, and now they want to charge you by the token to access a version of what you and everyone you know already created.
One Reddit user put it perfectly: "They stole all this data from us, the people, our life's work, creativity, art, by devouring the internet and blowing through all copyright laws. Now they want to sell it back to us in the form of a utility."
Imagine if someone photocopied every book in the public library, burned the library down, and then opened a subscription service for the copies.
That's the metered intelligence business model.
And they're pitching it to infrastructure investors as though they invented water.
Good people of Nairobi, today we are celebrating the 1st anniversary of several potholes in the city and true to my word, I said cake is a must. My brother @MuriraKinoti@KURAroads we celebrate you. Enjoy the white forest cake.

It is quite satisfying to watch the antelope loudly proclaim its friendship with the leopard. But the entire savanna knows, that this friendship has never existed anywhere but in the mind of the predator searching for a more comfortable way to feed, and that of a prey so foolish it has mistaken the beauty of those spots for something other than the last thing it will ever see.โโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโ.
