We're delighted that the Ministry of Justice has confirmed probate documents will not be destroyed. This decision is a significant victory for the preservation of historical records and for all those dedicated to exploring family & social history

@findmypast's new pricing structure undermines the basis of genealogical research. By all means, give new researchers a helping hand, but relying on hints from an algorithm doesn't allow for independent verification and leaves a lot of room for error.
I resisted the idea of starting a GoFundMe for as long as I could but I’ve reached the point where I feel it’s absolutely necessary to give it a try 💔 If you're able to help at all you will have my unending gratitude (and maybe a sticker - see last pic!)

My aim for the summer was to improve my palaeography skills before starting the Diploma year of my MSc.
This evening, I attended the @SocGenealogists August Palaeograpy Club workshop. It was an incredibly helpful and informative hour, and safe to say I'll be attending again.
It's been a good day today for DNA...
My dad's AncestryDNA results were ready to view as of this morning.
I then attended 2 brilliant @SocGenealogists talks: a refresher on autosomal DNA testing & one about DNA match clustering.
Now, to have a proper look at my Dad's DNA results.
Saw this on Reddit and thought it might be a fun ask here-
If you had to move to the homeland of the highest percentage ethnicity you received on Ancestry, where would you be living right now?
I utterly despise Victorian role play by people who try to promote the virtues of their version of ‘nineteenth century life’ as a type of lifestyle choice. ‘Victorian life’ was not ‘more sustainable’ or about ‘slow living’. 🧵
