@hughriminton Requiring new referrals for the same condition should not be required . For new conditions GPs have a very important role to assess and triage the sitatuion . Waiting times for specialists are LONG. If a condition is urgent a GP can write this on the referral

@DichieraDomenic @hughriminton This is not true. You won’t see a specialist earlier without a referral. Also many specialists are booked out for months and rely on information from the GP to triage the urgency of the situation. We might be called the “ gate keepers” , but we are also the triage system
