Incredibly proud to say I have been called to the Bar of England and Wales by @TheInnerTemple. The years of hard work and dedication have paid off. Grateful to all those who have supported me along the way.
Man with curls, "We look at taxation negatively. If you increase tax you go, this must be bad" #BBCQT
"But surely the question should be the use of our taxes. So if I had to pay £20 more tax but my energy bills or my transportation bills were reduced, surely that's what we should be looking at?"
"Rather than saying we need to keep cutting taxes, I'm fine paying more, if I got more from it"
I am in complete disbelief but immensely proud to say I have accepted pupillage with my dream chambers.
If this year was not your year, sending all my support - I know the crushing feeling from last year. My DMs are open if you want to talk to someone.
Well, this year is not to be my year. Time to feel the feels, pick myself up and create a strategy for this next year. Onwards and upwards! #pupillage2023#pupillage
My parents or school never read stories with two dads to me.
I never saw pride flags as a kid.
I didn’t learn the word gay until I was in secondary school.
I didn’t see any gay role models on tv.
But I’m gay, and always have been.
Straight representation didn’t make me straight. Gay representation won’t make kids gay.
But not having a variety of representation will make some kids feel like they don’t belong, or are wrong.
If people won’t allow children to see the diversity of families, they’re failing them and putting their own prejudice above the wellbeing of their children.
Section 28 banned the ‘promotion’ of homosexuality in schools and is still having effects today, despite being repealed 20 years ago.
Ignorance or bigotry can no longer be used as an excuse and all children should see versions of themselves in our schools and in their lives.
Twitter community: does anyone know someone studying law who would like this caselaw revision notebook? I bought it during my GDL and didn’t use it and now have no use for it. I’m happy to send it to someone who would!
I could watch @JayneSeckerSky cross-examine Suella Braverman all day:
‘We’ve recruited 20,000…’
‘You’ve recruited 3,000 additional police officers. You *lost* 20,000’.
…
‘You’ve got 149,000 police officers at the moment. There were 146,000 in 2010.’
We'd like to congratulate everyone Called to the Bar yesterday evening. We wish you all the best in your legal careers future endeavours. We also wish you a wonderful and restful summer 🎉 ⚖️ ⛱️ #CallNight#Trinity#Barristers#UKLaw
@LoisAlexnorth Lois, we moved into our flat in September 2021 and haven’t had blackout blinds since. Every summer morning from about 4am our room is flooded with light. I’ve ordered some now and they should arrive next week. Your tweet has made me realise just how excited I am🤩🤩🤩
