Go Michelle and Emily! Winners of @policyatkings#policyidol 2020 (RTed earlier but I’m bumping again because now I see @Emily_s_Yam is also on twitter and you should follow her!) 💥
As one of 8 finalists of Policy Idol 2020, we won both Overall Winner and Best Audience prize.
Thank you @JoJohnsonUK @ProfRosieCamp @BobbyDuffyKings and Dame Louise Casey for giving their time to judge. It has been an honour to present our policy to all of you.
Last night, my teammate @Emily_s_Yam and I proposed a reform to the Equality Act 2010. We proposed it should include care experienced individuals (looked-after children and care-leavers) as the 10th Protected Characteristic.
It means so much to us both that our idea was recognised and had such an impact on people. Thank you so much to you @suzanne_khall, @BobbyDuffyKings and all the other judges from the heats-who through your feedback, helped us to improve our pitch and go on to win!
So delighted for @MichelleSebele and Emily Yam - very deserving winners of @policyatkings#policyidol 2020. Was lucky enough to be on the panel for their pitch - a fantastic idea, brilliantly presented, hurrah! 🎉
