Iran is trying to "widen the war" following the deadly missile strike in Jordan that killed two U.S. service members, according to retired U.S. Marine Corps Col. Mike Jernigan.

Jernigan says Tehran's strategy is likely to backfire by further isolating Iran from its regional neighbors while prompting a broader U.S. military response.

He pointed to recent U.S. strikes on key Iranian infrastructure and a brigade inside Iran that claimed responsibility for drone attacks on Jordan, predicting the campaign will continue to accelerate.
