Join us live today at 2:00 pm on ESBS 96.1 FM as we take an in-depth look at Enugu’s historic shift from PDP to APC and the implications for politics and governance in the state.
Today, I had a productive discussion with the House of Representatives Committee on Reformatory Institutions, led by Hon. Chinedu Ogah, at the Government House. We deliberated on the relocation of the Enugu Correctional Centre, a facility built in 1915 that is no longer suitable for its present location in the heart of the city.
I commend the Federal Government for approving its relocation, a move the Enugu State Government has long advocated for. We are fully prepared to partner with the Federal Government to ensure its swift actualisation. We have already conducted a survey of the new site.
Beyond relocation, we are also tackling the root causes of congestion in correctional facilities. Our administration has fully automated court processes to ensure the speedy dispensation of justice, eliminating delays that often keep inmates awaiting trial for prolonged periods. The automation extends beyond case filing to court proceedings, with verbatim reporters replacing the traditional longhand method. This is a significant step towards a more efficient justice administration system.
I appreciate Hon. Ogah’s recognition of the improved security in Enugu, where people can now move freely at any time of the day. As he noted, our investment in security technology and the dedication of correctional officers and security agencies have ensured there has been no jailbreak in our state. With our modest efforts in creating jobs and boosting economic activities, we are not just improving security but also addressing the socio-economic factors that contribute to crime.
The Committee’s support and collaboration are valuable in driving this reform forward, and we look forward to working together to make these initiatives a reality.
@akogunfirst @MusolRidwan@olaoluwamide I understand your annoyance and pain towards IBB but attempt to drag Igbo into it, shows how hateful your are towards a people who eventually deserve apologies from Nigeria. Prior to IBB's book a host of us knew that there was no "Igbo Coup" as disseminated by your people.
@renoomokri Waited eternity to see Reno congratulates Chidimma Onwe when she emerged first runner-up of Miss World contest but never came on the Reno's handle.
Reno will never disappoints in his search for appointment.
@GbengaSoniran@ComradeAI@sowore He wasn't wrong anyway... "Some social media influencers have been paid to spin falsehood against me that I refused to appear before the court". I'm not surprised with your response.
@renoomokri Akeredolu Ale if I got it right is the managing director of ESBS. Facts are facts and can't be buried as you wish. I listed only three for wanton of time as I know many in other states of Southeast.
@renoomokri Adenike Okebu is an SSA to Enugu State Governor, His Excellency Governor Peter Mbah on Revenue and the last I check she is a Yoruba Lady. The CSO government House of Enugu State is a Yoruba man while the head of Broadcasting service in the State is equally a Yoruba.
