Very pleased that the wonderful @simon_schama has deleted a tweet accusing my friend Robin Simcox of extremism. Robin is an inspired choice to lead @commissionce and mainstream voices should not be misled by predictable Islamist smear campaigns against him.
“The Batley affair is also an indicator of how the balance of political forces in Britain are shifting. In 1989, majority opinion, even on the left, defended Rushdie and his right to publish. Things are very different now.” Sober reading from @MrPaulStott
Fantastic appointment! Thrilled CEG founder @RobinSimcox has been appointed for this crucial position. I’ve benefitted enormously from Robin’s expertise & the field of counter-extremism will be all the better for it.
Congratulations to outgoing @CEGroupUK director @RobinSimcox, who has been appointed as the UK's interim Lead Commissioner for Countering Extremism. We wish him luck in his new role! https://t.co/6tnU7AtBEj

An important point.👇And it's patronising to Muslims to assume they will all take offence at the use of a caricature, however crass it may be. It only serves to perpetuate harmful stereotypes of them. Those who shout the loudest, are not representative of all Muslims.
Well said Sajid Javid. It is deeply alarming to see a head teacher buckling to an angry mob at the school gates by suspending the teacher concerned. Equally alarming to see elected representatives endorsing the suspension.
In this country we are free to peacefully follow, preach or query any religion or none.
These are hard-won freedoms that must be upheld by all public institutions. Reports of intimidation in Batley set a deeply unsettling and potentially dangerous precedent.
I look at various allegations made against Islamic Relief and how they have pushed back. There remains a lot of unanswered questions here but the UK should at least consider whether - like many of it allies - it wishes to take a more robust approach towards this charity.
BLOG: Islamofauxbia - The Smearing of Steven Greer
My take on Bristol University's Islamic Society (@bristolisoc) attempting to destroy the reputation and career of a human rights professor with demonstrably false accusations of Islamophobia.

Agree. This was a great chance for Labour to prove it was now serious on security after the awfulness of the Corbyn years. Instead, it appears the far left of the party still calls the shots.
Really disappointing. There is an organised campaign to weaken this vital strand of the UK’s counter terror strategy, no political party should risk undermining our national security by caving into it
This will seem a bit niche for many but it’s a seriousness test and Labour have failed it. They’ve put themselves on the side of the likes of MEND rather than those who want to fight extremism and terrorism. https://t.co/17fgaOz9G8
There is a new article in today's @JewishChron from @CEGroupUK Director @RobinSimcox on the appointment of William Shawcross as Independent Reviewer of Prevent: https://t.co/RMM73XF571
The online hubbub surrounding William Shawcross's appointment as Independent Reviewer of Prevent is purely political | @Emma_A_Webb https://t.co/4DK2Imv9TG
