My comment piece: Why the Government must set up a task force to find a way of freeing #mortgageprisoners from financial despair. "My children have had to live with the stress of our financial situation since they were born.” @mortgageprison

Saddened #MortgagePrisoners amendment has fallen, keeping up to 250,000 people mired in financial hell.
The fight won't stop here. Govt has pledged to do 'something'. We have the LSE report & if govt provides data it promised, I'll fund further research to try to find solutions
This evening I notified my whip that, with regret, I would vote not to overturn amendment 8 to the Financial Services Bill which sought to cap the Standard Variable Rates. In my view, the Gov's proposals would be late and unfairly leave the vulnerable paying 4x the rate I pay.
Thank you so, so much @PBottomleyMP for going against the grain and trying to do good! I for one, a very sad mortgage prisoner is so grateful that you tried 🥰
Jim shannon stood up for all mortgage prisoners last night . He spoke passionatly and understands the need for urgent action . Thankyou for integrity and understanding that thousands of families are on the brink of losing there homes @fortfield@DUPleader .
(1/2) The Financial Services Bill amendment, which would have introduced a cap to the SVR charged by inactive lenders, did not pass in the House of Commons. We share in the disappointment with Mortgage Prisoners, but our group action claim supporting those affected, continues.
Id like to give thanks to @patmcfaddenmp for his forensic analysis of the @mortgageprison situation and his tenacity in standing up to @JohnGlenUK . You get the issue and understand the desperation facing us . Wish you were my mp @patmcfaddenmp . Stregnth, conviction and fight
As days move on from temporary setback more information will come to light for @MortgagePrison1@mortgageprison families from @GOVUK until we will have our time back in @HouseofCommons and be released and given justice
Pat McFadden asks why so few mortgage prisoners are switching if what the Minister says is accurate about 125,000 mortgage prisoners now being able to switch.
Wallpaper in @BorisJohnson flat, £830 per roll. Yet @JohnGlenUK says WE borrowed irresponsibly & above our means. At least we bought a house with ours & used our own money, & didn't leave the IOU with the public who will foot the bill for whatever it is he has to promise later on
@mortgageprison@Conservatives@JohnGlenUK Today is your chance to end over 10 years of misery for hundreds of thousands of mortgage prisoners, trapped because YOU sold off our mortgages to non-lending Vulture Funds. You MUST vote yes on Amendment 8.
@JohnGlenUK@Conservatives@TheLabourParty_@LibDems@mortgageprison
Todays Yes vote on Amendment 8 will save me £230 a month, this would be life changing for my family of 4. We will finally be able to have normal things most others have. Please vote yes on amendment 8.
Read this article from @yorkshirepost and tell me MPs should ignore the terrible plight of #mortgageprisoners. In recent months, some #mortgageprisoners have been struggling to feed their families, according to campaigners. @mortgageprison
