@javavvitch Iβve had to show students how to do this probably 50+ times and I still need to reference the docs every time β¦ limited space in the brain π
Two racks. My friends, it fits in *two racks*. I love the cloud as much as the next person, but $7m over five years to run a workload that will fit in *two racks* makes me want to sleep for a year. Fully automating two racks was not hard. https://t.co/yhFcduScq5
What many donβt realize is, on the other side of a ChatGPT session is a $150k server that costs ~$16/hr. The server goes 24hrs/day and can time slice efficiently. But the economics of scale arenβt that different from a human.
AI wonβt be free like search was, at least not for awhile. Weβre just beginning to understand the economics and viable business models. First technology innovation, then the business innovation.
@dr_vorhees@laurenrocco Iβm not sure that the current government funding in public and academic R&D to give grad students/ academics a monetary push for their ideas is such a huge problem if that makes senseβ¦
@dr_vorhees@laurenrocco also a percentage of that public money goes to regulatory affairs that are supposed to protect us the consumer, not only that, the very reason why the trials are so expensive is so that the product is FDA compliant
@dr_vorhees@laurenrocco 21% is pretty low considering the leaps that have been made in medicine and biotech β¦ I think there is confusion when it comes to academia vs private industry, most biotechs I am aware of go through multiple rounds of private funding or they have to end the trial.
@dr_vorhees@laurenrocco Most biotech clinical trials are funded by private money actually β¦ if youβre speaking of the initial academic R&D then yes a lot of it is funded by NIH, but that cost is almost nothing compared to the millions that go into clinical trial work thatβs mostly funded privately
Knowing what you know now, if you had to start over from the beginning, What language do you think should be the first programming language that you should have started learning? And which framework would you start with?
We are at a point now when the intl community either has to act and force the opening of the Lachin corridor, or acknowledge that nothing has actually changed since Rwanda and Srebrenica. An entire population can be starved in the 21st century in the EU's Eastern neighbourhood.
We can no longer afford to wait. The time for a humanitarian airlift for #NagornoKarabakh is now. Over 9,000 tons of food/medicine/goods have been held hostage for over 3 weeks by dictator Aliyev & operatives. Over 30K kids face dire consequences, @UN@UNICEF time for #NKAirlift
@devpato Itβs a combination of time it takes and how little items you have to take off( shoes on, laptops/ electronics can stay in bag). Itβs nice and it doesnβt actually cost that much more.
