What many don’t realize is, on the other side of a ChatGPT session is a $150k server that costs ~$16/hr. The server goes 24hrs/day and can time slice efficiently. But the economics of scale aren’t that different from a human.

AI won’t be free like search was, at least not for awhile. We’re just beginning to understand the economics and viable business models. First technology innovation, then the business innovation.

@dr_vorhees @laurenrocco 21% is pretty low considering the leaps that have been made in medicine and biotech … I think there is confusion when it comes to academia vs private industry, most biotechs I am aware of go through multiple rounds of private funding or they have to end the trial.

@dr_vorhees @laurenrocco Most biotech clinical trials are funded by private money actually … if you’re speaking of the initial academic R&D then yes a lot of it is funded by NIH, but that cost is almost nothing compared to the millions that go into clinical trial work that’s mostly funded privately
