J’ai vu Paul hier dans sa prison. C’était un moment fort en émotions. On était content de se voir. L’entretien a duré 2 heures. Il est en cours de montage et sera bientôt diffusé en entier et gratuitement sur @vakitamedia.

J’ai trouvé Paul en forme et combatif, même s’il a perdu du poids. Il m’a dit que ses codétenus étaient très gentils avec lui. Ils lui ont même fait un gâteau le soir de son anniversaire !

Le plus difficile, c’est d’être loin de ses enfants, à qui il ne peut parler au téléphone que 10 minutes par semaine.

Dans la prison, les détenus font leurs courses dans une petite épicerie et se préparent ensuite eux-mêmes à manger. Les légumes sont presque tous pourris, les fruits ça va. Paul me dit qu’il y a de la viande de baleine en vente.

Certains détenus ont le droit de sortir la journée avec des fusils pour… chasser le renne ! Ils ont droit d’avoir chacun un téléphone portable et un accès à internet pour communiquer à l’extérieur, ce qui est refusé à Paul.

Les deux prochaines semaines seront cruciales. Paul se prépare à l’annonce de son extradition ou non vers le Japon, qui devrait tomber d’ici le 15 décembre. Il pense que le Danemark ne l’enverra pas au Japon. J’espère qu’il a raison.

Il reste conscient que c’est une possibilité. Et, comme il me l’a dit hier, il sait qu’il ne reviendra probablement jamais du Japon s’il est extradé. Il a 74 ans et risque quinze ans de prison. Je vous laisse faire le calcul.

J’ai montré à Paul des images de la mobilisation en France pour le soutenir, ça lui a fait très plaisir. Il m’a demandé de tous vous remercier. Il passe l’essentiel de ses journées à répondre aux centaines de lettres qu’il reçoit.

Durant l’entretien, nous avons longuement parlé des origines de son combat, de sa vision du monde et de la nature. J’ai hâte que vous puissiez l’écouter.
