What a difference a school makes! After a year out of school our girl started at a new placement last week.Its going to take time but she's already more positive and relaxed. 😎

My girl's school placement broke down.
The school asked LA for help, they declined.
My girl's MH suffered. The school struggled.
We pulled her out of school.
We spent a year begging for help. Trying to be heard.
Finally, the LA engaged.
We found a school she loved.

So we had a meeting with the LA this week. They apologised for mistakes made & pledged to help us get our girl into a school...of course the next challenge is finding a place. So far 3 out of the 5 special schools we've approached aren't able to take on any new pupils for years!

1. So it's been a month since my last tweet about my daughter's school situation. Sadly I've been too busy trying to stop her hurting herself to reach out to our twitter community. We can see no prospect of a school for our daughter. The LA are failing in all areas.

5. Now we are waiting for two people to coordinate their diaries, so they can give us a date for a meeting they offered us. 2 weeks have passed and basic communication and admin seems to be eluding them. My hope of an education for my daughter is 🅾️.

4. But it is real and it is really impacting my daughter's mental and physical health. She's now being seen as an emergency by camhs. I'm sure many of you know how bad it has to get before that happens. 😥

1. Our SEND daughter's been out of school since June 2022. The original placement failed & the LA's response is woeful. It has impacted on her mental health & socialisation. Just received another message to say the panel recommends she attend a school that has clearly stated...

LA can't even give us a date for a meeting they offered us. I can't decide if I'm relieved or angry we've just been offered a meeting with camhs. 1/2
