@emilykschrader The nazi symbol is very triggering, especially in the context of the global rise of antisemitism. Using this symbol is careless no matter how you slice it, and the shock art component cheapens rather than supports the artist’s pro-freedom message.

@TheArtNewspaper Though the so-called “half bean” sculpture answered to different technical and logistical challenges than its Chicago counterpart, the lack of artistic originality leaves this multi million dollar project feeling rather cheap.

Boston’s new MLK sculpture looks like the idea for the artwork was decided before they commissioned the artist. No matter the intention, if you need to see a sculpture from a specific angle next to the source photo for reference, it is not a success.
