COAS VISITS SOUTHEAST REGION, CHARGES TROOPS IN ENUGU TO REMAIN DISCIPLINED AND PROUD OF THEIR SERVICE

The COAS Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has urged troops of the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Ivo in Enugu State to remain disciplined, dedicated, and proud of their service to the nation.

During his operational visit to the base on Thursday, the Army Chief commended the troops for their resilience and noted that their presence had greatly improved the security situation in the area, restoring public confidence.

Shaibu reassured them of the Army’s commitment to their welfare and urged them to take pride in their vital role in protecting citizens. He reminded the soldiers that the military profession demands fitness, discipline, and mental alertness, which not everyone can endure.

Emphasizing teamwork and loyalty, the COAS encouraged the troops to remain attentive to their officers, stating that many senior officers began their careers in similar field deployments. He also referenced the ongoing Regimental Sergeant Majors (RSM) convention, underscoring its importance in promoting discipline, mentorship, and the Army’s regimental values.

After addressing the troops, General Shaibu proceeded to attend the closing ceremony of the RSM convention.

During a courtesy visit to the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji (Dr) Abubakar Elkanemi, the Army Chief sought continued prayers and cooperation, while the monarch commended the Nigerian Army’s sacrifices, gallantry, and humanitarian effort, also assured troops maximum support. The visit featured operational briefings, project inaugurations, and visits to wounded soldiers signaling a renewed determination to strengthen counterinsurgency operations and restore lasting peace in the region.

TROOPS OF OPERATION HADIN KAI NEUTRALISE TERRORISTS, SECURE KEY LOCATIONS IN NORTH EAST

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), Joint Task Force North East, have successfully twarted multiple terrorist attacks and neutralized key threats in the North East of Nigeria between October 25–31, 2025.

The attacks, which occurred across several locations in Borno and Adamawa States, included an attempted suicide bombing in Kukawa, an ambush in the Gwoza–Limankara area and the interception of terrorist logistics networks. It is important to state that troops have stood firm, executed swift responses, and thwarted enemy advances, all while safeguarding civilians and maintaining operational efficiency.

On October 25, troops foiled terrorists’ attempt to force their way into Kukawa Town using a Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED). The troops engaged the VBIED with RPG fire, which bounced off its armored surface. The vehicle was eventually neutralized by a T-55 tank, preventing a catastrophic attack. The attackers fled after sustained fire. A 10-year-old civilian girl sustained minor injuries and was treated at a medical facility.

Troops, in cooperation with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), discovered and safely disposed of three Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) in the Dikwa–Ajiri axis and surrounding areas, averting potential sabotage on major supply routes.

On October 29, troops of 192 Battalion (Main) in collaboration with CJTF carried out an ambush operation which neutralised two terrorists, forcing others to flee into the Mandara Mountains. Items recovered confirmed the continued use of bicycles and food supplies by terrorists in the area.

In a night ambush operation, troops of 202 Battalion in conjunction with 10 members of the Volunteer Force, on October 30, 2025, successfully engaged terrorists attempting to cross from the Gezuwa axis towards Sambisa Forest along the Bama–Konduga Main Supply Route. The ambush team opened fire on the insurgents, forcing them to flee in disarray.

In a separate anti-smuggling operation under Operation Strangulation, troops of 232 Battalion (Tactical) on October 29 intercepted a drum of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and two motorcycles used for illegal conveyance of the product at Fillin Ball and Sebore in Mubi South Local Government Area of Adamawa State. The smugglers abandoned the items and fled upon sighting the troops. The products are in custody for further investigation.

Similarly, in a cordon and search operation conducted on October 30, following credible intelligence on plans by Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists to infiltrate Sabon Gari village in Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State, troops of 144 Battalion and Sector 4 Special Forces, in collaboration with Hybrid Forces and local hunters, arrested five suspects.

Those arrested include Musa Mohammed (38), Gambo Musa (17), Mallam Mohammed (17), Abu Danjuma (27), and Umar Banna (26). A pair of desert camouflage uniform and one round of 7.62mm x 54mm ammunition were found in possession of Umar Banna, while 50 wraps of Indian hemp were recovered from an abandoned hut in the area. Preliminary investigations are ongoing.

Throughout these operations, the Air Component Command of OPHK provided critical air support, conducting precision strikes and enhancing battlefield awareness with ISR assets. These joint efforts ensured the neutralization of several terrorists, the recovery of significant weapons, and the seizure of key logistics materials.

A follow- up exploitation conducted in the early hours of October 31 within a 3- kilometre radius towards the Sambisa Forest led to the recovery of one terrorist’s corpse, one AK 47 rifle with a magazine containing eight rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 90 rounds of 7.62mm × 54mm linked ammunition and four bicycles. No casualty was recorded on the part of own troops.

TROOPS OF OPERATION HADIN KAI ARREST TERROR LOGISTICS SUPPLIERS, INTERCEPT FOOD ITEMS IN BORNO

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have successfully arrested three suspected logistics suppliers of Boko Haram terrorists during a special operation conducted in Borno State.

The operation, codenamed Operation Strangulation, was launched following credible intelligence reports on the movement of terrorist logistics networks operating within Dowoshi and Alagarno general areas.

During the raid on a suspected hideout in Dowoshi, troops apprehended two suspects found with five bags containing snacks, small chops, and other sundry items intended for delivery to the terrorists’ logistics team.

Further investigation and sustained surveillance efforts led to the arrest of the principal logistics supplier at about 12:30 p.m. on Saturday in Alagarno, where two additional bags of assorted supplies were recovered. The suspects and recovered items are currently in military custody for further investigation and necessary action.

OPHK reiterates its resolve to sustain ongoing operations aimed at cutting off all terrorist supply chains, denying them access to food, fuel, and other logistics necessary for their criminal activities in the North East.

OPERATION HADIN KAI TROOPS RECOVER ₦4.7 MILLION AND LOGISTICS SUPPLIES AFTER ENCOUNTER IN BORNO

Troops of the Joint Task Force, North East Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have recovered the sum of ₦4.77 million, bicycles, mobile phones, and other logistics items following an encounter with suspected terrorists along the Maiduguri–Damboa Road in Borno State.

The encounter occurred on 18 October 2025 when troops from the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Molai, while on routine patrol along the Main Supply Route (MSR) Maiduguri–Damboa, sighted elements of the terrorists mounted on two bicycles around Masta Fanameri.

On sighting the advancing troops, the terrorists abandoned their belongings and fled into the nearby bush. Items recovered during exploitation included two bicycles, six small lamps, two solar power units, six new Tecno phones with chargers (without SIM cards), bags of garri, and the sum of ₦4,770,000.

Troops thereafter conducted a search-and-pursue operation but made no further contact with the fleeing insurgents.

Meanwhile, troops of 26 Task Force Brigade and 222 Battalion, operating under OPHK, recorded further operational successes against ISWAP/JAS terrorists in Gwoza and Konduga Local Government Areas of Borno State. The engagements led to the neutralization of two terrorists and the recovery of two AK-47 rifles, two magazines, three hand grenades, six rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, two fragmental jackets, two camouflage uniforms, and two motorcycles.

Additionally, troops intercepted a truck conveying 170 empty gas cylinders suspected to be linked to terrorist logistics movements, thereby disrupting their supply network within the region.

Operation HADIN KAI, in collaboration with other security agencies, continues to sustain offensive operations under Operation Desert Sanity IV, aimed at denying terrorists freedom of movement and safeguarding critical supply routes in the North East.

GUARDS BRIGADE NIGERIAN ARMY CONDUCTS EXERCISE HEAVY STRIKE (AMBUSH & ANTI-AMBUSH FIELD TRAINING EXERCISE)

The Guards Brigade, Nigerian Army, has conducted a two-day Field Training Exercise (FTX) codenamed Exercise Heavy Strike from 13-14 October 2025, aimed at enhancing the tactical proficiency of troops in ambush and anti-ambush operations.

The lecture phase of the exercise was held at the 176 Guards Battalion Training Hall, General OA Azazi Barracks, Gwagwalada, while the practical drills were executed along the Rafin Zurfi–Ibua axis.

Declaring the exercise open, the Special Guest of Honour and Commander Guards Brigade, Brigadier General Adebisi Onasanya, commended the Commanding Officer, 176 Guards Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Oladimeji Ajongbo, and his team for organizing the exercise. He welcomed invited guests, officers, soldiers, and participants, emphasizing that the training aligns with the directives of the Army Headquarters to sustain a high standard of combat readiness.

Brigadier General Onasanya further noted that the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Olatubosun Oluyede, has made training a key pillar of his Command Philosophy, focusing on enhancing operational efficiency and preparing troops for the demands of modern warfare. He explained that Exercise Heavy Strike was specifically designed to equip personnel with the requisite tactical knowledge and practical skills to effectively respond to emerging security threats within the Federal Capital Territory and parts of Niger and Nasarawa States.

The second day of the FTX featured the practical phase, during which troops conducted ambush and anti-ambush drills, demonstrating tactical deployment, engagement procedures, and immediate counter-ambush responses. The exercise provided participants with hands-on experience to consolidate theoretical knowledge gained during the lecture sessions.

An interactive session followed the field drills, allowing participants to seek clarifications and share insights on the exercise. In his closing remarks, the Commander Guards Brigade emphasized that continuous and realistic training remains critical to ensuring troops’ readiness and operational effectiveness.

The event concluded with the presentation of souvenirs to representatives of the Army Headquarters, instructors, and participants in recognition of their contributions to the success of the training. The exercise ended on a high note, reaffirming the Guards Brigade’s commitment to professionalism, excellence, and operational preparedness.

UPDATE: Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have intensified follow-up operations in Ngamdu after repelling a coordinated terrorist attack. Reinforced by elements from 29 Task Force Brigade, the troops overpowered insurgents who used RPGs, armed drones, and IEDs, inflicting heavy losses. While some soldiers sustained injuries and a few vehicles were slightly damaged, military engineers have cleared IEDs along the Ngamdu–Damaturu road, restoring safe movement. Locals have praised the troops as patrols continue to secure the area and deny terrorists freedom of action.

TROOPS OF OPERATION HADIN KAI NEUTRALIZE 9 TERRORISTS DURING FIGHTING PATROLS AND RECOVERED ABOUT 5 MILLION RANSOM MONEY AT MAGUMERI AND GAJIRAM GENERAL AREAS OF BORNO STATE

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have continued their sustained onslaught against Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists in the North-East, neutralizing nine insurgents and recovering over ₦5 million suspected ransom money in coordinated fighting patrols around Magumeri and Gajiram general areas of Borno State.

According to military sources, the operations were conducted on October 10, 2025, under the ongoing counter-terrorism campaigns, Operation Desert Sanity IV and Operation Lake Sanity III. Acting on credible intelligence, the troops launched an aggressive fighting patrol to intercept a group of terrorists reportedly moving in two vehicles and accompanied by 24 foot fighters around Goni Dunari in Magumeri Local Government Area.

The insurgents were said to have been setting houses ablaze and terrorizing locals when the troops advanced towards the objective. On sighting the soldiers, the terrorists attempted to flee towards Damjiyakiri village. Vehicle-borne fighters dispersed in different directions while foot fighters were pursued for about 92 kilometres.

After nearly four hours of tactical pursuit, the troops made contact with the fleeing terrorists and engaged them in a fierce firefight. Five terrorists were neutralized in the encounter, while several others escaped with gunshot wounds, as blood trails were observed at the contact scene.

Items recovered from the engagement included one AK-47 rifle, five magazines (three empty and two loaded), thirty-one rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, an Itel mobile phone, and a dagger. No casualties or equipment losses were recorded by the troops.

In a similar development, troops conducting clearance operations along the Gajiram–Bolori–Mile 40–Gajiganna axis encountered another group of terrorists near Zundur village. A brief but intense firefight ensued, during which four terrorists were neutralized, while others fled into the surrounding bush.

During the operation, the troops rescued two kidnapped victims identified as Mr. Modu Kinnami, aged 55, and Mr. Bukar, aged 57, both residents of Guzamala Local Government Area. Preliminary investigations revealed that their captors had earlier demanded a ransom of ₦2 million and two new Tecno button phones for the release of their brother.

Items recovered from the scene included a blue pickup vehicle with registration number GUB 327 XA, two new Tecno button phones, a jerrycan containing thirty litres of petrol, and a total sum of ₦4,355,000, in addition to ₦750,000 found with the rescued victims, bringing the total cash recovery to over ₦5 million.

The troops’ actions have been widely commended by senior military officials for demonstrating improved coordination, resilience, and operational efficiency. The Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai lauded the soldiers for their professionalism and urged them to sustain the offensive across all fronts.

Security sources confirm that further operations are ongoing in the general area to maintain pressure on the terrorists, deny them freedom of movement, and consolidate the recent operational gains towards restoring peace and stability in the North-East.

OPHK TROOPS REPEL ATTACK IN NGAMDU, NEUTRALIZE 15 TERRORISTS IN BATTLE

In yet another demonstration of tactical superiority and resilience, troops of Operation Hadin Kai have repelled a coordinated attack by Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists on Ngamdu in Kaga Local Government Area of Borno State, killing 15 insurgents and uncovering their mass grave.

The attack, which occurred in the early hours of Friday, was described by military sources as “one of the most daring but costly misadventures” by ISWAP fighters, who launched simultaneous assaults on troops from three different flanks.

According to reliable sources, the terrorists began the offensive from the Gonori axis around 3 a.m., apparently to divert troops’ attention from their main objective. The diversionary assault was swiftly contained by the gallant troops, forcing the attackers to retreat with casualties.

The second wave of attack, launched along the Maiduguri–Damaturu highway, involved the use of command Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), rocket-propelled grenades.

Despite the intensity of the assault, troops advancing from Benisheikh managed to charge through the ambush position, though one Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle sustained damage to its engine and tyres.

The third flank of the attack targeted Alpha Company’s defensive location near the main supply route, but despite minor infiltration into their outer perimeter, the soldiers held their ground firmly and neutralized several of the attackers in close-quarter combat. The sources said four soldiers paid the supreme price while three were wounded in action during the encounter.

Subsequent intelligence gathered from local sources revealed that ISWAP fighters conducted a mass burial for 15 of their slain members at Bula Wura village near Wasaram, less than 24 hours after the failed operation.

“The attack was well-coordinated but the response was even more professional. The terrorists came in waves, using multiple tactics, but our men held their ground and made them pay heavily,” said one military sources.

The military has also intensified clearance operations along the Maiduguri–Damaturu highway after terrorists planted IEDs to delay reinforcements. The road was temporarily closed for demining operations to ensure the safety of commuters.

As the military continues to dominate the theatre of operations, local communities are beginning to express renewed confidence in the ongoing counter-terrorism efforts, which have seen a steady decline in insurgent activities across major highways and rural settlements in recent months.

Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East) under OPERATION HADIN KAI have achieved significant victories in Borno State, repelling multiple attacks from Boko Haram and ISWAP.

In the early hours of Sunday, the 3 Battalion at Pump House thwarted an ISWAP infiltration attempt, neutralising two terrorists and causing others to flee with injuries. There were no casualties among our troops.

On Saturday, a coordinated Boko Haram attack on Banki was repelled by combined security forces, forcing the insurgents to retreat. One police officer sustained a minor injury but has since been treated.

Additionally, during Operation Desert Sanity IV, troops ambushed Boko Haram elements at Dipchari, neutralising five insurgents and disrupting their logistics.

6 BRIGADE TROOPS ARREST FAKE POLICE OFFICERS WITH TWO HILUX LOADED WITH CANNABIS IN TARABA

In continuation of the ongoing operations across Taraba State code-named OPERATION LAFIYA NAKOWA, aimed at flushing out bandits and other criminal elements, troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/ Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), in conjunction with operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), have recorded another breakthrough.

Acting on credible intelligence, troops alongside NDLEA personnel intercepted and apprehended two fake policemen at Takum Junction in Wukari Local Government Area. The suspects, who were dressed in mobile police uniforms, were found with two Toyota Hilux vehicles loaded with substances suspected to be cannabis.

Preliminary investigation revealed that none of the occupants are serving policemen. The cannabis-laden vehicles were traced to have been loaded from Akure, Ondo State, and were heading towards Adamawa State before interception.

FACT CHECK: Allegations Against Two Commanding Officers in Rivers State Misleading

Recent social media claims that soldiers deployed in Brass, Obama, and Oando were denied their entitlements are misleading and lack context. Findings confirm that troops in these locations have been receiving their operational allowances promptly, including the September payment. The controversy stems from confusion about the Ration Cash Allowance (RCA), which is only payable when no central feeding is provided. In this case, Oando has been providing daily meals for soldiers, which by policy replaces the RCA. Although the company has not remitted RCA funds for over four months, it continues to feed all deployed personnel, while the units ensured that operational allowances were covered from their own resources.

Far from neglecting their men, the Commanding Officers of 5 Battalion and 343 Artillery Regiment have invested heavily in troop welfare and infrastructure. Lt Col I.A. Al-Makura restored electricity to Elele Barracks after four years of blackout, renovated accommodations, and built classrooms and modern flats for soldiers’ families. Similarly, Lt Col I.G. Fashona sank solar-powered boreholes, improved housing facilities, and upgraded offices and quarters. Their efforts have drawn formal commendations from the General Officer Commanding 6 Division and the Chief of Army Staff, who personally commissioned some of the projects during his recent visit.

TROOPS INTERCEPT BOKOHARAM/ISWAP LOGISTICS SUPPLIERS IN BORNO, ADAMAWA

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have arrested three suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP logistics suppliers during a stop-and-search operation along the Maiduguri–Konduga road in Borno State.

The suspects—Tijjani Ali (49), Isiyaka Hassan (25), and Ali Idris (19)—were intercepted on 25 September with five jerricans of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) concealed in a “Ghana-must-go” bag. Preliminary investigations revealed that two of the suspects, both filling station attendants, are linked to AY Shettima Investment Ltd along Bama road. They are currently in custody for further investigation.

In a related development, troops also intercepted 21 jerricans of smuggled fuel and large consignments of urea fertilizer in the Mubi axis of Adamawa State between 19 and 25 September. According to military sources, the items were destined for insurgents operating in parts of Borno and Adamawa. The seizure is regarded as a major setback to terrorist logistics and improvised explosive device (IED) production networks in the North East.

KANU AND HIS ESCAPE BID STRATEGY

The desperate propaganda that Nnamdi Kanu's health is "deteriorating" is nothing
but a tired tactic. This is the same strategy he used in 2017 when he was granted bail to Senator Abaribe, and instead of facing trial, he vanished. Nigerians must not be fooled again. The character of Nnamdi Kanu disqualifies him from any claim to mercy or premature release.

This is a man who, while on bail for serious charges of treason, brazenly jumped bail and fled the country. While abroad, he continued to direct his violent campaign, proving that confinement is the only means to neutralize the clear and potent danger he poses. This act alone demonstrates a profound disrespect for the Nigerian judiciay and the rule of law.

Let me break the ice with these unanswered questions. How many of his self-appointed doctors has he sacked just for giving him a clean bill of health? Facts speak! Empirical facts speak louder! Who are these doctors, and what role did they play? What was their offence that MNK sacked them? It is assumed that they are core professionals. Their integrity must have been undoubted before he hired? Likewise, the DSS medical team that has given Kanu consistent, professional care from what we know. Even those personal doctors he hired have been allowed to see him as he also affirmed before now. If there was ever a plot to harm him and not serve justice, I doubt he would be alive and well today. The so-called "overdose" claims and accusations of attempted murder are mere lies, manufactured to discredit professionals as leeway to get out of custody. This alarm by a compromised prof from nowhere is nothing, other than Kanu's usual gimmick.

The truth is clear: Kanu has never been denied medical attention in custody. The
sudden noise about failing health is just another ploy to escape justice, nothing
new. The court date is close. and rather than face the charges, his camp is trying to create excuses. The clamour for his release would only be an invitation for him to resume his campaign of terror and instability, plunging the Southeast into another cycle of violence.

The esteemed Judges of our courts are faced with a decision that transcends legal technicalities. They are guardians of both the law and public good. Their duty is to interpret the law in a way that sustains the nation, not fractures it. The pursuit of justice and upholding the rule of law must take precedence over individual interests. Nigerians cannot afford a repeat of 2017; this time, there will be no disappearing act.

Amnesty International and the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) have begged President Bola Tinubu to “direct the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice Mr Lateef Fagbemi, SAN” to withdraw the charges against activist Omoyele Sowore, X [formerly Twitter], over Mr Sowore’s posts on social media platforms calling the President a “criminal.”

SERAP and AI also begged the President to “direct” the Department of State Services DSS) to “immediately stop misusing the judicial processes to silence public criticism and violate Nigerians’ fundamental rights through the use of Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation (SLAPPs) or similar forms of harassment.”

However, some groups have faulted AI and SERAP, saying it is wrong for groups that claim to champion the course of democracy and justice to beg the president to tamper with a matter that is already before a court of competent jurisdiction. The Northern Ethnic Youth Group Assembly (NEYGA said it is dangerous for SERAP and AI to accuse the DSS of “misusing the judicial process,” saying their language paints a wrong picture that the DSS is dictating to the courts. “It is said that both NGOs are encouraging the President, who is the head of the executive arm of government, to meddle in the internal affairs of the judiciary,” noted NEYGA, saying the request by SERAP and AI is capable of undermining democracy.

NEYGA spokesman, Mallam Ibrahim Dan-Musa, in a statement he signed, took a swipe at AI and SERAP, saying “both NGOs ought to know better.”
He said, “AI and SERAP ought to know, like we all do, that there are three arms of government. It is a tragedy that the same NGOs that claim to promote the cause of democracy are the same ones trying to undermine it. “When the DSS sued Omoyele Sowore, we joined many in hailing the secret police. Before now, the DSS would have hounded Sowore in detention. Remarkably, the new DSS leadership chose to embrace the rule of law for which we commend the leadership. “That the DSS decided to turned its back on its previous jackboot stance and decided to tow a new path and test the judicial waters on the legality or otherwise of a citizen calling the President or any other person for that matter a criminal should be commended.
“We are therefore at a loss as to why AI and SERAP, rather than encourage and support Sowore to pursue his counter-suit against the DSS to its end, they are the same groups encouraging the President to illegally interfere with our judiciary,” noted NEYGA.

Another group, Northern Minorities Back Tinubu, expressed disappointment with the position taken by AI and SERAP.
Said the group, in a statement signed by it’s convener, Comrade Jacob Edi, “We are shocked and at the same time disappointed that SERAP and AI, NGOs that ordinarily should be championing the deepeening of democracy, are the same groups working overtime to destroy democracy. “If the courts do not decide the suit by DSS, we shall never get to know if it is right or wrong to call the president a criminal. Had Peter Obi in 2007 not approached the courts to determine how long the tenure of a governor who came through the courts should be, it is certain we never would have had off cycle guber elections today,” the group declared.

TROOPS OF 6 BRIGADE APPREHEND 2 SUSPECTED KIDNAPPERS AS OPERATION LAFIYA NAKOWA INTENSIFIES IN TARABA

The ongoing clearance operations across Taraba State under the codename OPERATION LAFIYA NAKOWA have continued to yield significant successes, as troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/ Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke have arrested two suspected kidnappers in Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State.

Acting on credible intelligence regarding the activities of criminal elements in Garau axis of Rafin Taba community, troops conducted a raid on the hideout of suspected kidnappers on 19 September 2025. The swift and precise operation led to the arrest of Ibrahim Umaru and Adamu Malam Musa, both notorious for their involvement in a series of kidnapping incidents within and beyond the state.

During preliminary interrogation, the suspects confessed to participating in several abductions where large sums of money were collected as ransom from victims’ families. They further revealed that some abductees were often moved across Taraba State boundaries into Plateau State, particularly around the notorious Madam Forest, to evade security surveillance.

While commending the troops for their vigilance, professionalism, and dedication, the Commander 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 OPWS Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa noted that the successful operation is yet another testament to the resolve and commitment of troops of 6 Brigade to rid Taraba State and its environs of criminal elements threatening peace, safety, and socio-economic activities. He assured the people of Taraba State that the Brigade will continue to intensify operations in synergy with other security agencies until all criminal networks are dismantled and peace fully restored.

The Nigerian Army therefore calls on members of the public to continue to support ongoing operations by providing timely and credible information to security agencies, while also warning criminal elements to desist from their nefarious activities or face decisive action.

OPHK AIR STRIKES NEUTRALISE OVER 25 TERRORISTS IN BULA YOBE-BANKI AXIS

Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI (AC OPHD) has neutralised over 25 terrorists in a coordinated night operation at Bula Yobe and Banki on 18 September 2025. Acting on reports from ground troops, a force package comprising Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) and attack aircraft were deployed. The ISR platform established contact with ground forces, tracked terrorist movements and identified multiple groups around the north of Banki. Real-time updates were relayed to ground troops and base operations, enabling synchronised action.

Subsequently, the strike aircraft engaged the terrorists in three successive precision strikes on their movement routes and assembly areas, effectively neutralising more than 25 fighters. Post-strike surveillance confirmed ground forces in their defensive positions with no further threats observed in the area. This successful operation highlights the resolve of OPHK to deny terrorists freedom of action, and its commitment to securing Nigeria’s North-East.

TROOPS OF OPHK INTERCEPT MASSIVE LOGISTICS CACHE INTENDED FOR TERRORISTS IN NORTHEAST

Troops of the Joint Task Force (JTF) North East, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have recorded a major breakthrough in the ongoing counter-terrorism operations with the interception of a huge cache of logistics supplies concealed in a trailer in Yobe State. Acting on credible intelligence, troops under Operation DESERT SANITY IV, on 16 September, 2025 at about 0740 hours (7:40am), while conducting snap checks along the Nguru–Gashua road, intercepted a red 14-tyre trailer laden with suspicious consignments. The vehicle was subsequently moved to a secured location and carefully offloaded. Also on the same day of 16 September ,2025 at about 2100 hrours (9:00pm) inspection revealed 700 bags of NPK 20:10:10 fertilizer which serves as materials for making IEDs, 27 cartons of assorted drugs, and nine cartons of normal saline solution, all cleverly concealed beneath bundles of fabric materials.

The consignment was reportedly billed for onward movement to Niger Republic, suggesting cross-border terrorist supply networks. This discovery came after an earlier interception at 1030 hours, 16 September 2025, when troops on the same axis stopped two Sharon vehicles and another trailer carrying large quantities of fabrics and solar panels. Intelligence indicated that terrorists were attempting to acquire fabrics for the production of uniforms for their fighters. All drivers, motor boys and the recovered items are currently in custody, pending further investigation and the arrest of identified consignees and consignors.

The Theatre Command assures the public that troops remain vigilant and committed to cutting off all supply chains sustaining terrorists in the region.
