I haven't written anything creative since I was arguably a child, but I got on a roll about what the term "friend zone" sounds like it means and it was kinda fun
A corny suburban dad ushers his coworkers into his newly finished basement to watch the game, bellowing "welcome to The Friend Zone! Help yourself to a cold one from the mini-fridge!" He glows as he tells them how he carpeted it himself. It smells like fresh paint, for now.
@RamonaQuaxli My partner very much seems to be going through this, and I'm having a hell of a time finding the right search terms to google any insight on how to navigate where he's at.
@RamonaQuaxli Been reading about this today, and it seems to mostly apply to seeking new partners. Is there a different term for when changing circumstances change your limits, and you become poly-oversaturated within your existing relationships?
The only demand that drives people into sex work is the relentless demands of living within a capitalist hellscape. Where our basic rights & necessities such as homes, food, a functioning welfare system & equitable accessibility to work, services, etc. are not being met.
@ehimeora Huh. I do a bunch of amateur archival work, and history/memory/preservation has always been a core value and motivation of mine, yet somehow it's never occurred to me to turn that lens upon myself. Thank you - gonna think about that.
@entreprenuwhore The cotton ones are supposed to be good. But not latex, I hear wearing them too much with moisturizer can give you a latex allergy - no idea if that's true but not willing to risk it lol
@JessupShannon I love this! As of a few years ago, the biggest green flags I look for are along the same lines:
Do I enjoy/feel compelled to hold eye contact with them?
Does my blood pressure feel lower?
Does my brain feel quieter?
@entreprenuwhore That happens to me soooo muuuuch, it's a terrible feeling! And so hard to treat without wearing gloves full of moisturizer all damn day (or ideally at night but my body won't let me sleep under those conditions lol)
@wigglingit4cash I have multiple regulars who say shit like "I know you're not attracted to me, just relax you don't have to pretend" and like... yes I fucking do??? That's what you're paying me for?
@wigglingit4cash They think (or at least tell themselves) they're being so clever and self-aware and chill when they pull this shit but all they're doing is making us work harder
my clients from both fssw and stripping are nearly identical in terms of interests, values, age, wants, and needs, but both sides are equally horrified by the existence of the other world. My fssw clients think stripping is trashy and vice versa
@redheadcxnt Same with escorting versus spa clients, even though I offer full service in both contexts ๐คฃ
Calling it an "extra" or not is apparently a big difference to these otherwise indistinguishable men, who all think they're special
@surrealwhore At this point I recognize my work names (even the obsolete ones) quicker than my own, which makes me real fucking sad. And dating apps feel so much like work to me in the first place, I slip into "creating connection" autopilot immediately. I should probably just stop trying them
A client I saw once last year just found me on hinge and the more I think about it the angrier I get. Not his fault he stumbled upon my profile, and the message is polite enough, but for fuck's sake just book me if you want to see me again? This feels so invasive.
@surrealwhore And hell, I bet many people on dating apps have the sense to use fake names anyway, and it wouldn't be at all weird to bring up if a date was going well.
But like... I'm so used to and tired of fake names? I absolutely HATE the idea of making a new one for my real personhood
