The engagements focused on exploring strategic financing, grant opportunities and international partnerships to support the development of Kenya’s ICT and digital economy, in line with the country’s Digital Transformation Agenda.

The delegation also held high-level discussions with the Ministry of Finance and National Treasury on financing critical digital infrastructure projects, including the development of the Digital Media City at Konza Technopolis, a transformative initiative envisioned to position Kenya as a leading hub for digital media, technology, creativity and innovation in Africa.

These engagements underscore the shared commitment to leveraging technology, world-class infrastructure and strategic international partnerships to unlock investment, accelerate digital transformation and strengthen Kenya’s innovation-driven economy. Together, we are building the infrastructure and partnerships that will power Kenya’s digital future.

Kenya continues to strengthen its partnership with the Government of Japan through high impact Official Development Assistance projects that are transforming infrastructure, energy, trade and food security

Key initiatives include the Mombasa Port Area Road Development Project (Dongo Kundu bypass), which has significantly improved port efficiency and regional trade logistics, and the Mombasa Special Economic Zone infrastructure projects now underway, which are laying the foundation for industrial growth, export competitiveness and job creation along the Coast

In the energy and water sectors, progress is being made on the Olkaria Geothermal Rehabilitation Project, which is enhancing clean energy generation, and on the Mwea Irrigation Development Project, which is critical to boosting agricultural productivity and food security once the remaining irrigation infrastructure is completed.

This evening, I received a courtesy call from the visiting Executive Senior Vice President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Madam. Miyazaki Katsura and her delegation, and we reaffirmed Kenya’s longstanding and valued partnership with the Government of Japan.
