On Tuesday, I had the honour of welcoming the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Director, Reverend Harry Nii Kwatei Owoo, and his entourage to the Tema Metropolitan Assembly during his familiarisation tour of the Region’s MMDAs.
I am truly grateful for this meeting and recognise the calibre of leadership he brings—his distinguished career clearly reflects not an avoidance of duty, but a steadfast embrace of challenges.
As Mayor, I admit I often find postings disruptive, yet I also acknowledge that this same system enriches us with officers of varied competence, well-suited to handle Tema’s unique demands. My earnest hope is that the Director will view our challenges not as obstacles, but as opportunities to elevate our Assembly’s performance and, by extension, the entire Greater Accra Region.
Director, we are proud to welcome you and celebrate your service. Your wealth of experience is a blessing, and we trust it will guide us in managing Tema Metro more effectively. Yesterday, we proudly joined thousands of party faithful, supporters, and well-wishers across the country and in the diaspora to commemorate the birthday of our Founder, Flt. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings.

On behalf of the National Democratic Congress, I extend our sincere appreciation to H.E. President John Dramani Mahama, the leadership of our Party, our elders, cadres, constituency and branch executives, supporters, and all Ghanaians who participated in this important occasion.

The overwhelming support and enthusiasm demonstrated throughout the celebration reflected the enduring legacy of President Rawlings and our collective commitment to the values of probity, accountability, social justice, patriotism, and service to the people, which he championed throughout his life.
