@Bosco4Indy@Telford_Escaper@StarmersSausage Depends where you get your news - there were huge riots in Paris a few years ago and complete silence from mainstream media (pre convincing AI). I agree that AI is getting so good now that it is difficult to tell.
@dahcomradee@BGatesIsaPyscho But then he would also have a gun - maybe look up the murder stats of UK vs US before commenting (I did and the US is almost 7x worse than the UK)
@Dan2019513@BGatesIsaPyscho One rail employee did and is seriously injured in hospital - but who knows how many people he might have managed to protect by his intervention!
@BigChuckD3@BGatesIsaPyscho We still have a murder rate aprox 1/7 th of the US with all its guns - if this nutcase had had a gun he could have injured/killed far more!
This piece is inspired by musician Róisín Murphy's answer when being harassed for speaking up about being cancelled - she simply replied "I've left the cult, get over it".
I've been wanting to do something along these lines about cults for ages - but @roisinmurphy worded it beautifully.
Check out her music, she's an absolute legend!
@66_nicolax@recusant_raja better than letting him go and then realising he was involved after he left the scene - the whole situation was probably highly confusing and chaotic so it doesn't surprise me at all that it took a while to sort out who was/wasn't involved. Maybe CCTV had to be checked etc
@DaveB57153527@recusant_raja One suspect was on the train and the other was leaving the station. Presumably the on the train turned out not to have been involved (but obviously that only became clear later)
@martinebran@recusant_raja Maybe there were two different men who both fitted the description of the attacker, maybe it wasn't clear how many people were involved - either way it doesn't seem particularly surprising to me
@curdmudgeon1@Suffragent_ I don't know how it works but often a slow train will be overtaken by a through train - sometimes I have had the option of catching an earlier train that stops at every small station and arrives later than the fast one that leaves later/gets back quicker
@M_Occomore@SWally1119586@recusant_raja@MorphYorke Why - what is wrong with arresting people who fit the description in a crime scene like this? Surely in a confusing situation like this they need to detain anyone who might be involved until it is clear what took place
@curdmudgeon1@Suffragent_ Reacting in time to slow a high speed train and inform the station so they can make sure it is safe to stop/doesn't clash with any other trains etc
@curdmudgeon1@Suffragent_ Were you suggesting 1) carrying on with the normal journey or 2) stopping in the middle of nowhere where the police cannot get too and everyone standing around with the attacker possibly in a field?
Good man: LNER train driver who quickly diverted the train to Huntingdon to save lives last night identified as Andrew Johnson.
He served in the Royal Navy for 17 years and then was sent to Iraq in 2003. Now he works as a train driver.
