Cynical Lefty. Media Watcher. Calling On True Journalists To Call Balls & Strikes Like They're Supposed To. Democracy Is On The Line.
Tennis. Film. Science.
I would like to see journalists begin to treat the manufacture of confusion by the Trump government as basic to its style of governance. Instead of a suprising discovery, a consistent pattern. Instead of a sad sack whose bumbling leads to confusion, confusion as political method.
sometimes i'm truly stunned by what i read in NYT.
today's example: front-page piece abt how in 2001 the Taliban were willing to surrender to the US, but the US refused.
the amazing part? George Bush's name is never mentioned once (!!) in the story; https://t.co/uBVIzYL5NP
The days when a Democratic president could easily fill his Treasury Dept with Wall St alums are over. So why do so many of Joe Biden's top national security appointees have close ties to defense contractors? https://t.co/BMOxGZSYUf
i found the dumbest sentence of the week:
<Despite calls for national unity and bipartisanship, President Joe Biden and his top aides have declined to give the Trump administration credit on the nation's COVID-19 vaccine rollout > ABC NEWS
feast on that nonsense.
I don’t understand coverage like this: media assumption these people have *any* political constituencies
we’ve seen same coverage w/ Ivanka for years, as if she’d be a political shoe-in
this is very bad that DC press is treating as totally normal when a US Senator criticizes (yes, first Black) Vice President for giving a TV interview—none of the content is criticized. just the fact it was given
this
is
not
normal; https://t.co/IvL9ll5MHI
@ShaneGoldmacher@jdawsey1@RoigFranzia Please understand what serious journalistic malpractice this is, especially from the paper that once hosted Bradlee, Woodward & Bernstein. For shame. https://t.co/fTWU2k0PsJ
RNC chair Ronna McDaniel “is as guilty of spreading the lies that incited a violent mob on January 6th as Donald Trump... and she should be reminded of that for the rest of her career in politics.”
My mini-rant tonight rebutting the WashPost whitewash:
