This is how I feel about Below, it could have been a 2 hour movie. Luckily it was only a six episode series, instead of a ten, but it still had more than needed to tell a story about a sea monster.

The main character had two kid's with backstory, too many & too many side plots.

And there lies the problem with modern streaming show writing that I keep banging on about...
It's shit... it's the format of having to fill 8 hours, a story that can be told in 2hrs and writers that follow the same formula and think they have to explain everything with back stories and award show bait drama shite.

Sometimes it can just be a story about a fucked up demented killer... or space cops with magic rings that are fighting aliens... or whatever....

And not every series needs to be a single story spread out over 8 hrs... They seem to have forgotten how to write a good 45 to 60 minute self contained story.

The new x-files show will probably be the same, no more monster of the week, just 8 hours of mediocre crap.
