Non-partisan, volunteer driven group that’s been fighting for 10
years to get money out of politics, end corruption, and build democracy in Pennsylvania.
Our State Legislature is so choked by corruption that it functions at the level of a grade school student council picking its favorite candy and reptiles.
What about healthcare? Transit? Schools? What about outlawing the money in politics that infantilizes our government?
Yesterday on the House floor, the chamber voted to add measures making the Hershey Kiss the state candy and the Eastern Box Turtle the state reptile to a bill renaming the state fossil from the common trilobite to an ancient PA-specific creature from the Devonian.
Inbox: Gov. Josh Shapiro has signed seven more laws, which puts the state legislature at 58 laws enacted this year. With just a handful of voting days scheduled, that means the Capitol is on track for its least productive two year session on record since 1975.
FWIW, by my count there are at least another 53 fundraisers planned in Harrisburg this week, but I think due to an earlier start time (8:30) and later end time (1 p.m.), they may have JUST enough time time to squeeze 'em all in.
BREAKING: The Pennsylvania State House has passed a bill to open the state's primary elections to unaffiliated voters. The vote was bipartisan at 115 to 88. More to come.
Pa. House State Govt committee passed a bill 26-0 banning gifts to state lawmakers. (This is a big deal because the state’s current campaign finance rules have minimal restrictions and this is something lawmakers have been talking about for a long time with no progress.)
Not answering the question, Pittman.
We have a right to a simple "yes" or "no" answer on the gift ban. Conflating the two issues is an excuse to avoid committing to a gift ban!
Pittman is asked if he supports a gift ban. Pittman says he thinks folks conflate gifts and campaign contributions. And asked how to improve the legislature, he says "take the cameras out of the chamber." People like to talk for them, he adds.
Let’s see if anyone makes some big moves in Harrisburg in the next few weeks to pass a gift ban, get foreign dark money out of our elections, or do anything at all to earn the trust of voters 👀👀 @PaHouseDems@PASenateGOP@PaSenateDems@PAHouseGOP@GovernorShapiro
How 'corruption' became a defining issue of the 2026 campaign -- arguably for the first time in 20 years.
Both parties are focusing relentlessly on it cuz voters now make a connection between perceived corruption and rising costs

"Private Democratic research into how voters view corruption de-emphasized individual criminal corruption and fixed on legal, system-wide problems instead."
Pennsylvania has a rich history within the labor movement going back centuries, from a 1806 trial of Philadelphia shoemakers to the struggle between organizers and Pinkertons in PA mines and mills.

It sucks looking at new technology that can do really cool stuff like cure cancer, but knowing that the oligarchs who own the technology are just going to use it to make gambling more addictive.
