Apple decided not to roll out SIRI AI in the EU.
The non-interoperability of their design made the update not suitable for the EU market.

Why? Because big tech companies cannot decide which EU tool should be used by EU citizens.

Same old lie Apple told during Epic v Apple, which they lost, and were later found in contempt of court on, with a criminal referral. iPhone would be MUCH better if AI assistants could compete in a free market, rather than locking out competitors and paywalling what’s left.

Okay, es reicht mir und darüber müssen wir sprechen. Das neue Apple Intelligence ist in der EU nicht verfügbar. Apple gibt der EU die Schuld, dass sie mit dem DMA andere AI Provider ermöglichen müssen. Apple meint „Privacy“ wäre der Grund.

Es ist Schwachsinn, alles was sie da implementieren müssten, würde mit Codex 5 Minuten dauern. API Endpoints und App Hooks implementieren und auf die Datenschutzerklärung der externen Anbieter verweisen/hinweisen. Fertig, ready to release. Werden sie nicht.

@davidkrammer Yes and it's annoying, I have everything on my main account in Germany. Just download the ChatGPT app, it can do more than Apple Intelligence. The only thing it can't access is the system level (yet).

@kimmonismus That's not the EU's fault. It's their fault to not add configureable API Endpoints. That would be implemented with AI in about 5 minutes. Just refer to the privacy guidelines of the provider, like OpenRouter does. It's Apple, not the EU.

@theapplehub Wasn't surprising. Just open the Gemini app, it's the same models. Btw, they are in the EU already and they can speak more than English because they don't have „refuse if not in English“ in the system prompt. „For now“ means 27.4 will be the release. We all know it.

@isiosstable @MacRumors No, but it will only be available outside if the EU, we all know that. Apple will simply not release the same thing that other providers already have (which shows what can be done and what now if you think about the laws).
