@EnfieldCouncil Please can you let us know when you're start publishing the increased enforcement figures, especially in regard to pavement parking. Ticketing overstayers in legal parking spots won't help pedestrian safety, although I appreciate it'll be lucrative.
@2wheelsgoodBrum@London_Cycling Hi Tim. As I said, I disagree with this statement and I've copied it from your post verbatim. "Dismissing the good, for want of the perfect, can be as much of a problem".
@2wheelsgoodBrum@London_Cycling Hi Tim. I was talking about your comments around perfect versus good. With H&S good versus effective should not enter into the discussion, and I disagree strongly with that stance. I cycle commute from Enfield to the CoL and some infra is not good enough or safe.
@2wheelsgoodBrum@London_Cycling Hi Tim. Another thing we'll probably disagree on I'm afraid. Cycle and pedestrian infra is essentially H&S measures. I'd never trust anyone who reckoned installing infrastructure structure that works for less than us possible is a good thing. Unfortunately some at LCC do too...
@2wheelsgoodBrum@London_Cycling Hi Tim. I guess what you've just said is the reason we're looking at this differently. 30-50 years won't hack it for me, for climate change or for London or Birmingham. If that's the plan, it'll never be enough for me or my teenage kids will it? Thanks for the chat though...
@2wheelsgoodBrum@London_Cycling Hi Tim. You've literally articulated the problem yourself. Some good quality infrastructure has been installed. Some is not so good. However, that investment has got the CoL to 4%. In my job we have targets and KPIs we measure success against. I can't believe 4% is success.
@2wheelsgoodBrum@London_Cycling Hi Tim. Vision is important. Momentum is vital, and evidence shows progress. But look at the graph, City of London has 4% cycling and 4% cars. The highest borough has 8% cycling. That's evidence. And after a once in a generation chance to change momentum during COVID, its failed.
@2wheelsgoodBrum@London_Cycling Hi Tim. It is nowhere near, and to my mind an attempt that is no where near, probably shouldn't be used as a model. Cycling is popular for the last few miles, but for those of us further out (Enfield) it's still not much fun and infra is very much a mixed bag...
@2wheelsgoodBrum@London_Cycling Hi Tim - the article is difficult to read, but the modal bar chart shows just how far we are from bikes being anywhere near the most popular form of transport. It just beats cars for many time points during a 24 hour period.
@APPGCW@Chris_Boardman Looking at the dark green on the graph showing modal use by %, we've a long way to go haven't we? Having commuted into the City for 40 years by bike or motorbike, cycling has increased once you get within 5 miles of the City, but it's also noticeable that cars have decreased...
@susanelizh25@activetraveleng@CMO_England@JourneysPlaces It's remarkable the neither Enfield Council, or the local MP whose office is in the pictures care enough to fix this after all these years. Remarkable, but absolutely not a surprise...
@EzraArchy@steve_abraham74@Stevenaedw@London_Cycling As a cyclist in London, I very much care how fast they're going, as often they barely seem in control, and being overtaken in a cycle lane by another cyclist at speed is just an extra hazard I don't need...
Hello rugby friends!
Please could you share thisβs or message me also if youβre interested.
Itβs been a tough time for the family and Iβd really hate to see my dad lose so much money from something thatβs been completely out of his control π
@susanelizh25@roadcc Ha !! You can't beat stupid can you Sue, as you do need to be looking when you're behind the wheel, altho some street lighting is pretty atrocious and doesn't help. Always incredulous that schools enforce black coloured coats though as that seems like an easy win...
