WAR-SAXAAFADEED
Khasaaraha nafeed iyo midka hanti ee Ciidanka Xoogga Dalka ka soo gaaray weerarkii argagixisada ee deegaanka Jameeco, waxa uu murugo weyn ku reebay guud ahaan ummadda Soomaaliyeed. Waxaan tacsi tiiraanyo leh u dirayaa qoysaska iyo guud ahaan Ciidanka Xoogga ee ay ka baxeen halyeeyadii ku naf waayay weerarkaas bahalnimada ah.
Waxaa caado u noqotay Madaxweynaha muddo xileedkiisu dhammaaday in uu ku xalliyo xoog wax kasta oo kala aragti duwanaan siyaasadeed ah, kuna biimeeyo ciidammadeenna qalabka sida ee geesiyaasha ah dagaallo iyo hawl-gallo aan qorshaysnayn, argagixisadana uu ugu loogo.
Ma jirto dan siyaasadeed oo qiimaheedu gooyo dhiigga askari Soomaaliyeed, waxaana lama huraan ah in baaritaan madax-bannaan lagu sameeyo dhacdadan iyo kuwii ka horreeyey, mas’uuliyadda wixii dayac ah ee gaaray geesiyaasheennana lagula xisaabtamo cid kasta oo masuuliyaddaas qayb ka ah.
Ugu dambayn, waxaan ku baaqayaa in dhaawacyada ciidanku helaan daryeel caafimaad, kuwa xaaladdoodu culus tahayna la gaarsiiyo xarumaha caafimaad ee dabooli kara baahidooda, qoysaska iyo agoonta askarta geeriyootayna aan laga goosan xuquuqdooda sidii caadada u ahayd xukuumaddan. Sidoo kale, waxaan soo jeedinayaa in la kordhiyo mushaharka iyo gunnooyinka Ciidamada Qalabka Sida oo halkii aan sannado ka hor soo gaarsiinnay aan waxba loogu darin, kuwa tirada badan ee mushahar koodii bilihii danbe laga goostayna loo soo celiyo xuquuqdoodii.
DHAMMAAD.
The unilateral electoral process adopted by former President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, whose term in office expired in May this year, is a dangerous threat to Somalia’s statehood and future. The only serious way forward is an agreement on free and fair elections with stakeholders.
Former President Hassan Sheikh, whose term expired this past May, declared in his speech last night that he rejected the efforts of international partners to prevent him from holding unilateral federal elections without political consensus and agreement with opposition parties.
It was a pleasure meeting with Ruth Anne Stevens-Klitz, the incoming Deputy Chief of Mission and Chargé d’Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Somalia, for a candid and constructive conversation about Somalia and the way forward. We discussed the importance of dialogue, inclusion, and a peaceful democratic transition. I look forward to continued engagement and wish her every success in her new role.
I condemn the attempted political assassination of General Mahad Abdirahman Aden who was injured in an illegal drone strike that the unconstitutional regime of former president Hassan Sheikh carried out against his residence this morning. I pray to Allah for his speedy recovery.
The attack last night in Doolow on General Mahad “Shub” Abdirahman’s residence is deeply alarming and must be condemned in the strongest terms. He was a Somali citizen living in a residential area and openly expressing his political views. Five civilians were reportedly injured.
The use of a sophisticated, targeted drone strike in a residential area raises serious questions. But let me be clear: ultimate responsibility for what happens in Somalia rests with the Somali Government and its leadership. They are responsible for the security of the Somali people and must be held accountable for actions carried out under their authority.
Dalka iyo dadka Soomaaliyeed waxaa mas’uuliyadda u haya Dowladda Soomaaliyeed iyo madaxdeeda, iyaga ayaana lagala xisaabtamayaa.
What makes this attack even more disturbing is its timing. It comes as we are on the verge of concluding an agreement to establish the Democratic Transition Task Force (DTT), with a signing expected within days.
So we must ask plainly: Was this attack intended to derail the political process?
If so, how can President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud be taken seriously in negotiations while political opponents are being targeted with lethal force?
We cannot resolve our political differences through missiles, drones, and force. If the DTT agreement is to have any meaning, the violence must stop, and the political process must be protected.
“Jaale, as long as Somali children are dying from preventable diseases and lack of basic healthcare, we cannot claim progress or achievement” — Madaxweyne Siyaad Bare
Sixteen when the Embassy reopened. Seventy last year. 150 this year. A send-off was held in Mogadishu for the largest cohort of Somalis yet awarded Chinese government scholarships, among them military officers, personnel in security training and university students.
Chinese Ambassador Wang Yu said the civilian and military programmes had both reached record levels for a second consecutive year. Somalis who studied in China gave accounts of their own journeys and encouraged the new recipients, among them Sowdo Abdulkadir Ali Hure, who studied clinical medicine online from Somalia for two and a half years with lectures beginning at three in the morning before she could travel, and who returns next month for a master's in ophthalmology.
