Following yesterday’s events, i have been overwhelmed by the messages of support and encouragement. I will speak to the press this morning to address some of your concerns. Ahsanteni sana. God bless.
Politically, H.E RIGATHI GACHAGUA @rigathi and myself are on opposite side of the political divide. He is a Wamunyoroist, while I support H.E @WILLIAMSRUTO's government 100%. We don't see things from the same prism. But Gachagua and myself see and read from the same script when it comes to the problems of North Kenya. Leave alone the history and neglect of the region. Both myself and Gachagua admit/agree the sordid neglect of the north informs the underdevelopment of the region. But we also agree on something else. Corrupt leaders who steal from the poor people of Northern Kenya play an equally important role in the underdevelopment of the region. Since 2013, over Kshs 1 TRILLION was allocated through devolution funds, CDF funds, donors funds and grants from Central government to the Northern counties. A forensic audit will sadly show that 90% of these funds were wasted and misappropriated. Unfortunately, in Kenya, thieves are revered and not prosecuted (can you believe that according to a report released by @EACCKenya last week, Marsabit is the least corrupt county in Kenya? Can anyone take @EACCKenya serious? Instead of fighting corruption it is laundering it). That is why Gachagua's intervention is welcome. I plead with Hon Gachagua to take the fight against corrupt leaders of Northern Kenya to the next level. We need a national convention on the quandary facing the people of the North and the role their political leaders played in their plight. We need a national kamkunji on where the Kshs 1 TRILLION allocated to the Northern counties has gone to? Has it been invested in Nairobi, Dubai etc? What is the record of @EACCKenya in fighting corruption in the Northern counties? Is @EACCKenya an active accomplice of the larceny that is visited on the poor people of Northern Kenya. The government of President Ruto shouldn't allow Gachagua to monopolise this burning and popular topic. The government must openly address this troubling issue. We can no longer remain silent on this corruption genocide of Northern Kenya. Now is the time to speak about it and fight it.
