Yet another sign that I am an “old school” English teacher….I required my seniors to say they “graduated FROM high school,” not “graduated high school.” Look it up. #WeR210
Here's a picture of a chocolate cake with icing that says "Sorry we talk so much" (from some senior girls) and the envelope from the grad announcement of one of my senior boys with a "self-graded" message on the front. #WeR210
This week is Senior Spirit Week and Tuesday is designated as "Senior Citizen Day: Dress like an old person." What does a 70+ year old English teacher dress as??? Just wondering...#WeR210
First time in 44 years of teaching that I heard this excuse from a senior for the inability to submit an assignment: "My dog ate my glasses...." Sad part is it was true 🥴. #WeR210
The FFA Banquet was wonderful. Kudos to these fine students and all of their accomplishments, both academically and competitively. So proud of all of them and their sponsor! #WeR210
Someone asked me the other day for an update on the number of books I have read since I started counting in 2005. As of today (19 years later), I just finished 1216. #WeR210
I got an email from a teacher and the subject line read "Jesus is on his way." That was it. I thought this was a Christmas message of some kind. Nope, it was the teacher informing me that one of my students named "Jesus" was going to be a bit late to class. 😊 #WeR210
The Comp students are teaching me the meaning of slang words/unusual expressions that need to be put in quotation marks in a sentence. The text said, "My little sister wouldn't go anywhere without her 'bunkie' (blanket)." The seniors are teaching me "unusual" words they use. 🤭
One of our new paras looked so familiar to me, but I couldn't figure out who it was. Finally, I just asked her name. She laughed and said she was one of my students 22 years ago. The mind is the first thing to go....Here's hoping for a "memory-able" 44th year. #WeR210
