Day 3 | Renewed Hope Ambassadors’ Media Tour of North West was in Kano State and began with an inspection of Federal Ministry of Works projects along the Kano highway corridor. A total of 45 km of road is being constructed across three segments measuring 15 km, 17 km, and 13 km, including a 6 km dual carriageway leading into Kano City. The final 6 km stretch has been completed up to Adobairo Bridge and now features installed streetlights.
Work on the 17 km section is almost finished, with 16.3 km already completed and less than one kilometer remaining due to traffic management on the opposite carriageway. Solar-powered streetlights are also planned along the route from Mabuchi to Kano to enhance safety for commuters.

Federal Government targets April for the completion of the reconstruction of the Abuja–Kaduna Highway, with 60km of the 81km CRCP dual carriageway already completed.
On the Kano axis, 6.63km of dual asphalt road has been delivered, while a 17.3km connecting road is about 80% complete. Once completed, the upgraded highway is expected to significantly improve travel time, enhance safety, and boost economic activities along one of Nigeria’s busiest road networks.

Reconstruction Progress on Abuja–Kaduna–Zaria–Kano Dual Carriageway
Work is ongoing on the Abuja–Kaduna–Zaria–Kano dual carriageway, with significant progress being made on Section 1. The road is being constructed with rigid (concrete) pavement to ensure greater durability, improved safety, and a longer lifespan.
The project is part of broader efforts to enhance transportation, reduce travel time, and support economic activities along one of Nigeria’s busiest highways.
Current Progress
• Completed concrete pavement: Approximately 30km
• Completed asphalt pavement: Around 15km
• Sections under construction (concrete + asphalt): About 40km
Under the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, the project is being fast-tracked to meet an accelerated timeline, ensuring safer and more efficient travel for motorists across the northern corridor.
“President Bola Tinubu has transformed this road and raised our hope after many years.”
Excited users continue to appreciate the quality and pace of work on the ongoing rehabilitation of the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano road.
