"...the thing that is striking about the Starmer government is that is basically hates Britain."
That doesn't look like changing under an Andy Burnham government either. What a mess.
Eminent Historian David Starkey says….
“He thinks the UK is at the stage of the equivalent of Charles the first or the reign of James the second”
“We are a state which has turned against its people, a state which has become the principal danger to the survival of the nation.”
@DavidLammy No, the difference between your party and them is that, in government, they were merely incompetent. Your party is incompetent and vindictive.
If you do become our PM @AndyBurnhamGM for heaven's sake please get rid of the people in government who have the boot of spiteful taxation on our necks, or whose net zero zealotry is like a boat anchor dragging down growth.
Reeves and Miliband.
@an0n_Nic The BoE, the World Bank and the IMF will, mysteriously and quite unprompted, come out and say the market jitters caused his budget can be 'managed' are 'transitory' and that there is a need for some 'time to allow a period of adjustment'.
@vonderleyen Says it all doesn't it?
"European and Ukrainain security is stronger because of you."
Never mind your own country, the one you are PM of, you know, the UK, that one?
@tomhfh@lewis_goodall@benfme If you or I did that we'd be in cuffs for 'disturbing the peace' or 'acting in a way likely to cause a disturbance of the peace' or any one of a hundred flexible offences. He's immune for some reason though.
Much focus this morning on whether @Keir_Starmer will resign.
Another Prime Minister is not going to help us though. We need to end this conveyor belt of mediocrity in our leadership.
I just don't see how we do that under our current system of democracy.
@DamianLow3 Of course Russia wants to mess with us. That's just situation normal. It's just not our biggest problem right now. Our own politicians have done, and continue to do, an order of magnitude worse damage.
@BethRigby “We need to turn things around. I think that is obvious from the May elections”
....and yet, he will carry on with the same pig-ignorant policies that are damaging the country.
Some of us out here are trying to keep people employed. His government is sabotaging us.
@NickTorfaen It is only exciting news if you regard democracy as optional and something you politicians can opt out of when it does not agree with your viewpoint.
@KirstieMAllsopp You have over simplified it. We should be skeptical about Musk, Zuckerberg AND any government. No one should have more information about us than strictly necessary...but government is stripping that basic principle away. As an IT guy data breaches are my constant nightmare.
