Tuchel rightfully got stick after the Argentina game, but the players got off relatively lightly.

It was the players who sat back the moment we took the lead, against the instructions of the coaches.

That mindset has always been, and still is, the biggest thing holding us back

[England Extra @EnglandExtra]

Best we’ve played in a long long time. The high press and the insistence on playing out from the back is risky and we got caught out against Spain with it. But if done right, its football that wins trophies

Portugal finally getting serious

🚨💣 BREAKING: Cristiano Ronaldo announces he has LEFT PORTUGAL NATIONAL TEAM CAMP. 🇵🇹

“After the National Team coach’s press conference, and following a conversation with the President of the Portuguese Football Federation, I have decided to leave the National Team training camp”.

“In due time, I will tell all Portuguese people the truth about the reasons that led to my departure from the national team, to which I have always dedicated myself”.

“Now is the time to wish good luck to Portugal and to all my teammates”.

We’ve played some great stuff going forward tonight but our defence suckkkkkssss

Marc Guehi just isn’t the world class centre back he gets described as. Has way too many howlers in him

There’ll be podcast episodes dedicated to Cole Palmer not making the Euro 2028 squad if he misses out, about how it’s a disgrace that someone of his quality hasn’t been picked.

But it’ll be for reasons like this. Load management after the summer off and 5 Chelsea appearances 😒

[Fabrizio Romano @FabrizioRomano]

🚨⚠️ Cole Palmer has withdrawn from England squad following small muscle injury.

Decision confirmed with load management, @TheAthleticFC reports.

Taking away any English bias, the Principality stadium is the best stadium hosting matches at Euro 2028.

It looks great, can generate a top atmosphere, it’s slap bang in the city centre, right next to the train station and right next to hundreds of bars. A near perfect stadium

🏆 It’s the Community Shield today!

Is it a game you still have much interest in, or has it lost some of its magic over the years?

It’s also being played at the iconic Millennium Stadium/Principality Stadium 🏟️

Who’s been lucky enough to visit this stadium? 👇

The whole world saying goodbye to Argentina after their final defeat

[England Extra @EnglandExtra]

Such a shame we didn’t make the final to boo the absolute shit out of that US national anthem

[England Extra @EnglandExtra]

The most extraordinary 6-4 victory over France!

It might not feel like it, but it ends up being our second most successful World Cup ever

2026 World Cup - thanks for the memories ❤️

[England Extra @EnglandExtra]

Genuinely respect France’s lack of effort in this game

[England Extra @EnglandExtra]

Fair play I almost didn’t watch this in a bid to move on from Wednesday. But it’s actually making me feel a bit better

[England Extra @EnglandExtra]

After gutting defeats like on Wednesday night, the mind tricks you into thinking its all about the winning.

In reality its about the memories we make along the way with friends, family and strangers.

Plenty of those memories were made over the course of this tournament ❤️

[England Extra @EnglandExtra]

The only thing making me feel slightly better today is that there is no evidence at all to suggest we’d have beaten Spain in the final.

Argentina are full of old men who can barely run and we couldn’t get the ball off them

[England Extra @EnglandExtra]

@mikwa79 Yeh agreed, the two tie in. My guess is that Tuchel realised they were knackered and had started sitting deep, so he thought he should bring on players better suited to that approach. Clearly the better approach would’ve been to be more forward footed with fresher legs

[England Extra @EnglandExtra]

The arguments about Tuchel’s tactical approach are fair and I agree with them, but we also started defending way too deep before he made his subs.

As much as anything, I think the tank was completely empty for most of the second half after the Azteca and Miami

[England Extra @EnglandExtra]

Tuchel absolutely hasn’t justified his salary this World Cup:

Croatia: Decent 15mins after half time

Ghana: Terrible

Panama: Not great

DR Congo: Not great

Mexico: Dogged performance

Norway: Poor

Argentina: Dreadful after we scored
