@AlexMLowe As a Cornish Pirates fan, I feel so sorry for Richmond. As a part time club having to travel from London down to Cornwall for a 7:30 KO and not knowing an answer at gone 12pm is appalling……
@zodiak_frank @Spawntayneous @SkySportsNews They’re not unrelated at all? The highlighted statement says, ‘commits any other offence which interferes with or stops a promising attack’ which is what Martinelli did for his second foul?
@zodiak_frank @Spawntayneous @SkySportsNews If you read the whole page, that rule is targeted at when to stop play for cautions/red cards. You award a foul for denying a goal scoring opportunity as normally it would just be you, a defender/goalkeeper and the goal, not for stopping a promising attack.
@zodiak_frank @Spawntayneous @SkySportsNews Can I please ask what rules you’re looking at? Because if you watched the interview with Peter Walton last night on BT, he explained very clearly why Michael Oliver made the correct decision by law
@davidspiteri33 @Spawntayneous @SkySportsNews Yes I agree it’s before the throw was taken, but he’s in the act of taking a throw in and Michael Oliver clearly believed the throw was legitimate and they could gain advantage from it so doesn’t want to stop the potential positive outcome.
@RJacksonAFC @Spawntayneous @SkySportsNews If the attacking side can benefit from a play no matter if it’s before he releases the ball or after, the referee can let play carry on.
@Spawntayneous @SkySportsNews Of course you can! If there was an advantage to play, in which this instance there was, the referee can wait to award a yellow card. Martinelli has then made a ‘professional foul’ to stop a counter attack which is another yellow card offence, adding up to make a red card.
