Massive shout out to our fabulous year 10s who have completed their GCSE Shakespeare coursework this week, ticking off 12.5% of their English Literature GCSE with maturity and perseverance. Bendigedig! Brilliant!
We have loved celebrating National Poetry Day, seeing staff displaying poems on classroom doors and watching videos of staff reading a wide selection of poetry https://t.co/dG2wfFeosw (KS3 selection)
A massive well done to our hard-working year 11s who have completed their oracy assessments this week. What a fantastic range of thoughtful and eloquent discussions! Bendigedig.
Wonderful afternoon welcoming the remarkable @OnjaliRauf to speak to y7 @EnglishStanwell thanks to @GriffinBooksUK
Motivational, knowledgeable and incredibly engaging speaker. A real privilege simply to be in the same room.
It was wonderful to meet and listen to @OnjaliRauf talk about her writing, and the real world events that inspired her. Huge thanks to @GriffinBooksUK for organising. Onjali's books (some signed) can still be ordered at Griffin & Year 7s have been sent a parentmail discount code.
Thanks to everyone who dropped by to take part in our Hogwarts house Open Day challenge. The eventual winners were Gryffindor, who with 350 scored just ten points more than joint runners up Hufflepuff and Slytherin!
Shakespeare's Globe trip update: We have had a setback with traffic, but rest assured we're safe, on our way and hope to still be back ahead of our original pick-up time.
Former students: do you have any copies of our Year 12/13 set texts lying around your house? Please drop them back into school as soon as possible, so that we can share the joy with future generations.
Last year's Year 11 students who ordered a free book must collect their copies now! New sixth-formers should come to F10. Students no longer at Stanwell can e-mail an English teacher to arrange collection from reception. Books uncollected by Monday September 18th will be donated!
We've been delivering all the free books from the Schools Love Reading project, and only 29 are now left unclaimed from Years 7-10. If you've ordered a book and haven't received it yet, come to F10 to get it before the holidays.
All in all, we read, celebrated and promoted books, just as we do throughout the year, and every year. Keep reading, and keep enjoying the worlds within the pages. #StanwellReadingWeek
Pictures have finally come in from #StanwellReadingWeek 2023, our annual festival which aims to inspire pupils to pick up books! Take a look at the thread to see everything from our Book Swap to our Treasure Hunt.๐งต
Each morning, staff and members of Year 12 shared their own book recommendations, some of which you can still view on our YouTube channel! https://t.co/am6ZCgfFV8
