*an honor 😅

[Ms. Howard @English_Howard_]

Congratulations class of 2021! You did it! It was honor to be your teacher, and I look forward to seeing all you accomplish! 💜💛

[Adam Clapp, Supt @MonticelloCUSD]

We will be dismissing 30 minutes early at all schools in order for traffic and buses to be clear for the Officer Chris Oberheim escort through Monticello at approx 1:30. Dismissal times are HS/MS/WH 12:30, WASH 12:40 and LINC 12:45. All Small Wonders times will stay the same.

We are going to miss our student teacher, Julia Mackel, but I know she is going to be a great addition to Dunlap HS next school year. Another fabulous IL teacher from @IllinoisStateU!

[Ms. Howard @English_Howard_]

We utilized the flex space right outside of our classroom for English 12 mock interviews today. We were able to record each student so they can watch it back while I provide them with feedback next class period. The students killed it, and it made me proud to be their teacher.

[Monticello Sages Student Council @sages_stuco]

MHS Sages, class t-shirt orders and money are due TOMORROW! You can turn your $$ in to Ashley Long, Mrs Camacho, or Mrs Allen. Your name will be taken off of the order if you have not turned in your $15!

[Ms. Howard @English_Howard_]

Bravo to the cast of Into The Woods! So much talent on one stage!

Layla loved being a Sage for third quarter!! Every morning that I told her she was going to school, she would wait by the door in anticipation.

[Piatt County J-R @piattcountyJR]

MONTICELLO — Monticello High School agriculture teacher Elizabeth Rost would eventually like to see her students tending to cattle as part of their animal science class, but that is a ways off. https://t.co/fB4JH9t7xy

So today an E9 student stops mid lesson to let the class know there’s an example of a comma rule we learned earlier in the period present in text. I congratulated him on the find, and UNPROMPTED his classmates start sending fireworks his way like it’s nbd. Class culture matters❤️

[Ms. Howard @English_Howard_]

(1/2) In E9 class, I “throw” fireworks (jazz hands mixed w/ “pew pew pew”) in the direction of students when they say something impressive as a positive reinforcement. I encourage their classmates to join in, usually against their will as hand “fireworks” are silly when you’re 15

B2 and B3 students, Please check out the announcement I just posted to Google Classroom regarding our Zoom sessions for tomorrow. Email me with questions.

While analyzing Hamilton lyrics, our class was discussing the game of chess, which is heavily alluded to in one particular song. Jason says, “oh, yeah, I used to play chess. I won a tournament.” We told him to prove it. He brought in his chess trophy today, and it made our day!

A simple leadership tip: No one achieves success alone. We all need a team to accomplish great things, everybody is better than anybody.

Today we honor all veterans for their service to our great country.

Harrell Howard, USAF Korean Conflict. My grandpa ❤️

[Ms. Howard @English_Howard_]

@MrCrowhurst Congratulations!!

[Ms. Howard @English_Howard_]

B1/B3 English 9, be like Layla and wear your best Halloween attire to our Zoom tomorrow. Keep it school appropriate and no full face masks, please.

[Ms. Howard @English_Howard_]

@Grahamalam This hit me in the heart and reminded me how lucky I am to have this career. Thanks for sharing. ❤️

Our E12 memoir unit has made me think about authenticity and vulnerability in ways that I haven’t in a while. Watching the E12 students embrace vulnerability in their own storytelling is extremely inspiring! Super proud of their work so far.
