The @MODVA_UPDF Marine Battalion 155 has seized several sacks of illegal undersized fish during an operation at Busega Market.
The operation is part of ongoing efforts to curb the sale of immature fish and protect Uganda’s lakes from illegal fishing practices.
Officers also sensitised traders on legal fishing methods and minimum fish sizes. Captain Gimogoyi Muzamiru urged market leaders to ensure only legally sized fish are sold.
This was the second such operation targeting undersized fish in markets across Kampala and Wakiso.

The @cdfupdf 155 Marine Battalion has seized tons of immature fish in a crackdown on illegal fishing and fish trade in Wakiso markets.
The intelligence led operation targeted fishers, transporters and traders dealing in illegal fish from Lake Victoria. Some traders were also found operating without valid MAAIF licences.
Capt. Muzamiru Gimogoyi warned that illegal fishing and the sale of immature fish threaten efforts to restore Lake Victoria’s fish stocks.
Authorities have urged fishers and traders to comply with fisheries regulations to protect Uganda’s fisheries and livelihoods.
