Earlier this year I filmed a fox getting bread from a local shop owner in the town of Blida. At the time, just like now, the area was under almost daily attack by the Israeli army.

The Israelis are not just destroying buildings and infrastructure; they’re also damaging the fragile ecosystems that sustain wildlife and disrupting the habitats on which animals depend.

In addition to attacks, constant military drone flights are a disturbance. The persistent noise, low-altitude flights and vibrations can disrupt feeding, breeding and nesting; forcing birds and mammals to flee vital habitats. Even when animals don’t visibly react, repeated disturbances can trigger physiological stress and alter patterns of movement and behavior.

Explosions, fires, and chemical contamination (the Israelis often attack using white phosphorus) destroy vegetation, fragment habitats, pollute soil and water, and kill or displace wildlife.

For animals living in these conditions, there’s no safe period of quiet.
