1/ Last year, more than 230 Venezuelan men were disappeared to El Salvador’s CECOT prison despite a federal judge’s order to halt their deportations. Now, we’re suing the private companies that carried out those flights.

2/ Our lawsuit argues that CSI Aviation and GlobalX knowingly helped the Trump administration circumvent the court order and subjected the men to unlawful detention and torture. And they did it for profit.
“The law doesn't excuse a company for carrying out an unlawful act just because the government is its customer," said our VP of U.S. Advocacy & Litigation, @EnriquezKHRC.

1/ Transgender people in ICE custody are routinely physically abused, humiliated through invasive searches, medically neglected, and thrown into prolonged solitary confinement.
One of our clients, Camila Toro de Paula, has been trapped in these conditions at the Central Louisiana ICE Processing Center in Jena, Louisiana, for over a year.
https://t.co/Uhpocga2Is
2/ The abuses at this ICE detention center have been well documented. In our 2024 report, we detail rampant physical abuse, sexual harassment and assault, contaminated food, filthy cells, and the use of solitary confinement as retaliation.

3/ “We’ve had a number of clients who have been beaten and permanently disabled by [guard] takedowns. They’re using an indiscriminate amount of force when they’re taking people down,” said our U.S. Senior Staff Attorney, Sarah Decker.
Camila and the other women trapped in immigration detention deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. Learn more about their stories ⬆️.

I’m thrilled and honored to announce that the brilliant @MarielenaNILC is the incoming President of @Kennedy_HRC.
An immigrant from Medellín, Colombia, and the daughter of factory workers, Marielena has spent her career fighting for immigrant rights, equity, and democracy. She brings a remarkable depth of experience, a powerful vision for justice, and a lifelong commitment to human rights to our team.
My parents taught me to respect the dignity of every human being. That is the ethos behind our work at Kennedy Human Rights. I’m deeply grateful for everything we’ve built together and for the human rights defenders whose courage has continued to inspire me every step of the way.
As I step into this next chapter, I will remain on the Board of KHRC and serve as President Emeritus. The future of the human rights movement is in extraordinary hands. Congratulations, Marielena! Onward!

In 2021, our President @KerryKennedyRFK and a KHRC delegation traveled to Del Rio, Texas, to join @GuerlineMJozef and @HaitianBridge to document the conditions and treatment of Haitian asylum seekers at the U.S.-Mexico border.
Five years later, the Trump administration revoked Temporary Protected Status for some 350,000 Haitians who had been living and working legally in the United States overnight. This comes as the State Department continues to designate Haiti a Level 4 “Do Not Travel” country, citing widespread kidnapping, civil unrest, terrorism, and limited health care.
“I’ve been working in solidarity with the Haitian community since 1977,” Kerry said. “What I have witnessed in Del Rio is yet one more extension of decades of racist U.S. policy.” That pattern continues to this day.
As we enter Kerry's final four months as our President, we’ll be looking back at the people, places, and moments that have shaped her extraordinary legacy.

The United States is disappearing people it has locked inside ICE detention centers.
Enforced and involuntary disappearances are a tool of terror used by totalitarian regimes. We've joined dozens of organizations across the country to petition the UN to urgently intervene.
1/ On September 15, 2026, ICE quietly adopted a policy of removing the locations of thousands of individuals with final orders of removal from the Online Detainee Locator System (ODLS).
This unprecedented policy change, designed to allow the swift deportation of people without access to counsel, the courts, or due process, has resulted in the United States government’s enforced disappearance of thousands of people in its custody.
Fardin Sharifipour came to the U.S. from Afghanistan at age eight and has spent more than 40 years building a life in New York State. He’s a husband, father, grandfather, and small-business owner who runs a pizza shop in his community.
Last December, ICE arrested him in front of his granddaughter’s school bus stop after telling him for over 17 years that it could not obtain travel documents to remove him to Afghanistan. Because his removal was not reasonably foreseeable, we argued that his months-long detention was unconstitutional. And the Court agreed.

2/ Our latest practice advisory outlines arguments that can be used in habeas corpus petitions to challenge supervisory conditions that were never ordered by a judge. + A template petition that can be adapted for use in courts around the country. 🔗: https://t.co/39rMDCXqdN
ICE has placed more than 50,000 people on 24/7 surveillance since June 2025, when it quietly adopted a new rule requiring GPS ankle shackling of people fighting deportation in immigration court, absent any evidence of flight risk. That’s why we brought a class action lawsuit to stop ICE in June 2026.

On Thursday, September 24 at 1 pm ET, I am hosting Evan Benz of @AmicaCenter and Anthony Enriquez of @Kennedy_HRC, the attorneys suing ICE over its blanket use of GPS ankle monitors. Let me explain why this conversation is so important. https://t.co/ioxmInm94X
ICE has placed more than 50,000 people on 24/7 surveillance since it secretly adopted a new policy in June 2025. The new rule abandons decades of ICE policies requiring an individualized assessment to determine appropriate conditions of release. That's why we sued ICE in June 2026. Our case is currently pending.
On Thursday, September 24 at 1:00 pm ET, our VP of U.S. Advocacy & Litigation, @EnriquezKHRC, and @AmicaCenter's Evan Benz will join @ackocher to discuss ICE’s shift to its most intensive and most expensive form of monitoring yet, and who profits from the expansion of electronic surveillance.

A judge had already found it was more likely than not that Mohamed Hassan Jeylani, a 39-year-old Somali refugee, would face persecution if returned to Somalia. Yet ICE arrested him outside his home on Christmas Eve and detained him for nearly seven months, more than 500 miles from his children, family, and community in Rochester, New York.
Our habeas petition in Jeylani v. English was among the first in the Seventh Circuit to use novel legal claims challenging the unlawful revocation of an order of supervision using the post-hoc justification of removing a noncitizen to a third country. And on July 7, 2026, the Northern District of Indiana ordered his release.

1/ Under its own directive, ICE is required to not detain pregnant, postpartum and nursing people absent "exceptional circumstances."
But in defiance of its own policy, ICE has detained a record number of pregnant, postpartum and nursing people and has failed to monitor their health, leading to life-threatening complications, including a record number of miscarriages.
To bury the full scope of this systemic neglect, ICE has stopped tracking miscarriages altogether.
2/ @maanvissingh from the @guardian found case after case of pregnant people in ICE custody struggling to access basic care, including prenatal visits, OB-GYN appointments and treatment for pregnancy complications, including heavy bleeding and miscarriages.
DHS first told The Guardian that miscarriages were being tracked in monthly reports, then acknowledged that it has no data from October 2025 through June 2026. More information ⬇️.

1/ “If you’re [gonna] walk the streets of St. Tammany Parish with dreadlocks and chee wee hairstyles, then you can expect to be getting a visit from a sheriff’s deputy.”
That’s what the parish sheriff said on camera in 2010. The parish has a long history of biased policing, including stopping and searching Black people without legal justification.
2/ That’s what happened to our client, Mr. Bruce Washington. After he was racially profiled and unconstitutionally searched during a traffic stop, we sued, and last month, won a major victory against the deputies’ qualified immunity defense.
