I was just asked to be on The National to discuss Roe and abortion...and then I found out it would be a panel with a "pro-life/anti-abortion" voice. I am livid and sent this reply. I couldn't care less if this means I will not be asked back to the CBC. It needed to be said.
@Deloitte - There is an email circulating about Deloitte LLP processing a class action law-suit against @Airbnb for residents of Canada. Is this correct or a phishing email? Best to clarify this for those receiving as it is causing confusion..info:https://t.co/VsO6Oeo3W7
We can sit & argue about whether there will be a 4th wave in September or we can be realistic enough that it is nearly unavoidable at this point & plan to minimize its impact with leadership, planning & validating important concerns. 1/
@CP24@CTVNews@JohnTory Fire at the Fort York/Lakeshore encampment this evening. This is after many attempts at calling the city/311 to notify them of our neighbourhoods concerns for safety/sanitation. Hoping no-one is injured.
@StevenJS_ We'll have to agree to disagree on this topic brother. So disheartening working on the frontlines during COVID and dedicating my career to medicine to need to have these convos - especially with old friends. Always wishing you and your family well and hope that you stay healthy
@StevenJS_ Also, my question is always about what the narrative is if this were true? What is in it for us to recommend masking/social distancing/a vaccine and to subsequently ruin the economy? There is no advantage there - for anyone!
@StevenJS_ Just to clarify - are you saying that wearing masks does not help prevent the spread of Coronavirus? We have years of evidence/experience supporting mask use. With that reasoning..why should anyone wear a mask? Should surgeons just start operating without masks?
@StevenJS_ Nothing is being "falsely" classified as COVID. This is incorrect. And my point was specific to COVID patients being more ill than those with flus/other respiratory viruses.
@StevenJS_ Fair point/very valid but you are missing the point. Substance abuse/addiction is a disease. Not wearing a mask, disregarding recommendations for lockdown/social distancing and willingly risking the lives of those in your community is a choice.
@StevenJS_ Don’t get me wrong - our pandemic response is far from perfect/I am all for people voicing their opinions/disagreeing with particular strategies - I do it all the time! But to go out in large groups, not wear masks and ignore public health guidelines is insanity
@StevenJS_ Also - addiction/mental health is a disease, not stupidity. Believing in conspiracy theories and jeopardizing the health of others against a wall of scientific evidence/reality and undermining the millions who have lost their lives to this diseases is stupidity.
@StevenJS_ Those examples have no bearing on the health of anyone other than the individual. Ignoring public health recommendations/lockdown jeopardizes the health of others and puts at risk the health of all the healthcare providers who will have to care for them when they contract COVID
@StevenJS_ With social distancing, hand washing & masking (and likely more people vaccinating against flu this year) i have seen far less flu. But we continue to see COVID as it is more contagious. And those that I see with COVID are far more sick than those I typically see with the flu
