@CausticCoastal As a practitioner I can't afford to even apply for certain opportunities, but I don't expect those institutes or bodies to classify it as 'privileged opportunity'. What is an acceptable amount for some is not for others. Its up to the individual to decide.
@CausticCoastal I responded to your comment were you classed it as 'buying ad space' and that 'artists are labourers', I continued down your way of thinking and expanded upon it. There are a lot of privileged opportunities in the arts, artists are already aware of this
@CausticCoastal I didn't say you couldn't critique, I merely asked if you were doing anything for it.
Models such as...? The funding debate is a large one, and the twitter platform is not the best place to discuss it.
@CausticCoastal 3. cont. without my hard work this opportunity would not be available to people. I've taken the initiative to do something that benefits the people living and working in the region, can I ask what you are doing to support artists during the GETNorth2018?
@CausticCoastal 3. I've been transparent on the funding/not-for-profit aspect and it is the individual choice of an artist to take part or not. I have worked since early April to get galleries and bookshops involved in this project....
@CausticCoastal 2. Correct, and like everyone other business should be aware that marketing/advertising is a realistic part of that business. My partner is a manager in an independent bike shop, he regularly advertises for the business and thinks this is incredibly cheap
@CausticCoastal 1. BAE is not but Virgin and Accenture are, both known for tax avoidance. You also seem to be missing my point, how can I guarantee that artists would be happy with sponsors I choose? GETNorth didn't think people would have an issue with their sponsors
@CausticCoastal It was a conscious decision not to ask for funding from other parties after listening to the concerns of artists in the region. I'm sure you are aware of the issues surrounding partners of @getnorth2018
