Our discussions focused on preservation of coastal ecosystem, land restoration, marine biodiversity conservation and capacity building for sustainable development, climate resilience and disaster management.

Today in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia glad to have met with H.E. Gholamreza Nouri Ghezeljeh, Minister of Agriculture Jihad, Islamic Republic of Iran, on the sidelines of @UNCCD COP17.

Our discussions focused on land restoration, grassland management, biodiversity conservation, particularly cheetah conservation.

We further spoke about pastoralism and dryland ecosystems and how knowledge exchange and capacity building of agricultural and biodiversity research could further enhance our mutual interest.

Addressed the Ministerial Dialogue on 'Restoration of Rangelands and the Well-being of Pastoralist Communities' at UNCCD COP17, and shared India’s experience in restoring grasslands and rangelands through a combination of scientific planning and community participation.

Underlined how, under the leadership of PM Shri @narendramodi ji, India’s approach to rangeland and grassland restoration has been based on science, secure tenure and community stewardship.

Also highlighted successful traditional systems of community conservation covering groves and open natural ecosystems, including the restoration of Banni grassland in Gujarat, Cheetah introduction in Kuno, and protection of Orans in Rajasthan.

Held an engaging discussion with H.E. Tsend Sandag-Ochir, Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Mongolia on the sidelines of @UNCCD COP17.

We had productive deliberations on various matters including snow leopard protection and the broader conservation of their ecosystem and habitat.

Further assured India's full support to the Mongolian presidency in the ongoing negotiations.

Met the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, Ms Yasmine Fouad, on the sidelines of @UNCCD COP 17 today in Mongolia.

Our discussions touched upon critical matters related to the ongoing UNCCD COP negotiations, with particular focus on the post 2030 framework and Land Degradation Neutrality. We also discussed others aspects of CRIC and CST.

India remains committed to supporting the current COP presidency and convention to achieve the desired outcomes.

Interacted with stakeholders involved in publication of the first-ever Guide to India’s Grasslands and other Open Natural Ecosystems today on the sidelines of the @UNCCD CoP17 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

Apart from woodlands and wetlands, grasslands are one of the most important ecosystems directly linked with the livelihoods of dependent and pastoralist communities.

Their protection and restoration remains our commitment.

Met with Mr. Abdul Awal Mintoo, Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change of Bangladesh, on the sidelines of the ongoing @UNCCD COP17 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, today.

Our discussions focused on mangrove conservation, land erosion, and transboundary monitoring of Bengal tigers in the Sundarbans.

We also discussed the existing MoUs between India and Bangladesh, particularly those related to greening initiatives, and explored ways for their effective implementation going forward.

On the sidelines of @UNCCD COP17, addressed the event on Land 2030+: Linking Action, Network and Delivery — Finance, Partnerships and Livelihoods For Restooration at Scale, today in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

India is among the major global pledgers to the Bonn Challenge and in the last 10 years, under the leadership of PM Shri @narendramodi ji, we have successfully restored degraded and deforested land of 21.76 million hectares against the target of 26 million hectares. This demonstrates the commitment of the country to translate the ambitions into action involving stakeholders and local communities.

Met with Dr Dammika Patabendi, M.P. Minister of Environment, Government of Sri Lanka, on the sidelines of the ongoing @UNCCD COP17 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia today.

We spoke on a range of issues with particular focus on wildlife conservations, emphasising the need to preserve our elephants and further strengthen our bilateral cooperation on mitigation and adaptation aspects of climate change.

We also spoke on capacity building and knowledge exchange in the area of forestry and wildlife conservation.

Glad to have met with Minister for Agriculture and Livestock of the Royal Government of Bhutan, Mr Lyonpo Younten Phuntsho, on the sidelines of the ongoing @UNCCD COP17 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia today.

Our conversations primarily focused on agroforestry and climate-resilient agriculture.

We also deliberated on areas for advancing our transboundary cooperation with particular focus on biodiversity conservation and ecosystem restoration.
