Today in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia glad to have met with H.E. Gholamreza Nouri Ghezeljeh, Minister of Agriculture Jihad, Islamic Republic of Iran, on the sidelines of @UNCCD COP17.
Our discussions focused on land restoration, grassland management, biodiversity conservation, particularly cheetah conservation.
We further spoke about pastoralism and dryland ecosystems and how knowledge exchange and capacity building of agricultural and biodiversity research could further enhance our mutual interest.

Addressed the Ministerial Dialogue on 'Restoration of Rangelands and the Well-being of Pastoralist Communities' at UNCCD COP17, and shared India’s experience in restoring grasslands and rangelands through a combination of scientific planning and community participation.
Underlined how, under the leadership of PM Shri @narendramodi ji, India’s approach to rangeland and grassland restoration has been based on science, secure tenure and community stewardship.
Also highlighted successful traditional systems of community conservation covering groves and open natural ecosystems, including the restoration of Banni grassland in Gujarat, Cheetah introduction in Kuno, and protection of Orans in Rajasthan.

Met the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, Ms Yasmine Fouad, on the sidelines of @UNCCD COP 17 today in Mongolia.
Our discussions touched upon critical matters related to the ongoing UNCCD COP negotiations, with particular focus on the post 2030 framework and Land Degradation Neutrality. We also discussed others aspects of CRIC and CST.
India remains committed to supporting the current COP presidency and convention to achieve the desired outcomes.

Met with Dr Dammika Patabendi, M.P. Minister of Environment, Government of Sri Lanka, on the sidelines of the ongoing @UNCCD COP17 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia today.
We spoke on a range of issues with particular focus on wildlife conservations, emphasising the need to preserve our elephants and further strengthen our bilateral cooperation on mitigation and adaptation aspects of climate change.
